The Suryanarayana temple in Kalgi has deteriorated over time due to poor maintenance, frequent earthquakes, negligence in repairs, unchecked vegetation growth, disuse of the structure, and age. Major cracks developed throughout the structure, especially on the west side and plinth, due to earthquakes and lack of upkeep. Unwanted vegetation overgrowth damaged and threatened the existing structure. Beautiful stone carvings were destroyed by earthquakes and sun exposure. The roof, plinth, beams, and columns were missing or destroyed by various factors including earthquakes over a long period.
