1. Survey Analysis from our Audience Research Questionnaires
We asked 10 people
Male or Female –(70% female 30% male (7 women, 3 men)) - We asked more women than
men to answer our questionnaire because we expect more women than men to watch our
film.
Ages –(100% (11-20 year olds))- We only asked 11-20 year old because we feel that that was
the age range close enough to our intended target audience.
How many films watched in the last month – (20% watched 0(2 people), 50% watched 1-3(5
people), 20% watched 4-7(2 people) and 10% watched 8-10 (1 person)) - This shows that we
are attracting teenagers who do not have much time in one month to watch more than
three films.
How do you watch films –(20% cinema (2 people), 40% TV/DVD (4 people), 30% Internet(3
people) and 10% other (1 person)) -This suggests that more teenagers watch films at home
rather than going to the cinema which will affect the way we will promote our film.
Who/What influences you to watch films – (20% family (2 people), 20% friends (2 people),
40% trailer/cast (4 people) and 20% reviews or popularity (2 people)) -This suggests that
more of our audience watch films based on the trailer or the cast more than anything else.
Even though we have used unprofessional actors, it would be the trailer and the way we
promote the film that would be affected by this data.
What do you understand by the term of social realism – 0% (none)of our audience knew
what the term social realism meant.
Which of these films have you seen – (50% Kidulthood (5 people), 30% Adulthood (3
people), 20% This is England (2 people), 0% Billy Elliot (no one)) - This does not affect the
theme of our film as we have created an individual film, yet it does affect the fact that
people have seen at least one social realism film.
What content would you expect to see in a social realism film – This was unanswerable, due
to none of our audience knowing what the term social realism meant.
Have your own personal experiences affected you watching social realism films? If yes, how?
– 0% (everyone)said no, due to none of them knowing what the term social realism meant.
What is your opinion on our film’s topic? – 50% (5 people)of our selected people loved the
topic of our film. The other50% (5 people)of our selected people did not know what the
term ‘fangirl’ meant, but after them knowing, 30% (3 people) said they did not like our topic
and 20% (2 people) said they did as they thought it was creative.
Would you consider watching the rest of the film? Why? – 70% (7 people) of our selected
people said they would watch the rest of the film as they are interested in our film topic
whereas30% (3 people)said they would not watch the rest of our film.
Do you think that the media should do more to promote social realism films? – 30% (3
people)said yes, 50% (5 people) said maybe and 20% (2 people) said no.
