This document provides a summary of Surah An Nabaa, a Makkan surah with 40 verses. It divides the surah into 6 sections that discuss different topics. Section 1 addresses the differences between polytheists regarding the possibility of the Day of Judgment. Section 2 argues for the Day of Judgment through Allah's power, providence and wisdom. Section 3 describes scenes from the afterlife. Section 4 discusses the end of rebels in the afterlife, while Section 5 addresses the end of the righteous. Section 6 refutes concepts of intercession and emphasizes Allah's authority.
The story of Esther is such an amazing story of God's providence. The intrigue created by Haman and his hatred of Mordecai is great story material. Add to that Haman's demise brought about on his own gallows built to hang Mordecai and you have all the makings of a great novel. But this isn't a novel, it is the true story of a young queen and her saving her people.
Since the Death and Resurrection of Jesus Christ, the Church has been empowered to do greater things. The reason why many churches are still living in a limbo is because they do not realize that their positions in the Kingdom of God. Recognize who you are in Christ and take charge of your situation today. God's vision is always accompanied by His empowerment.

The Meaning of the Qur'an is a fresh English rendering of Tafhim-ul-Qur’an, Maulana Syed Abu Ala Moududi’s monumental and masterly Urdu translation of the Qur’an and a selection of his commentary. The translator has undertaken the delicate and difficult task of rendering this work in English under the guidance of the Maulana himself. Here is a work with a difference, by a dedicated scholar of an entirely different sort. An immense wealth of profound understanding of the Qur’an is here, a vast treasure of knowledge and deep insight, and a valuable exposition of some social, political, economic and legal teachings of the Qur’an.
This comprehensive Tafsir answers contemporary questions, and makes the Qur’an fully relevant to the concerns of day, yet it loses nothing of its timelessness nor sacrifices any of the traditional understanding. It demonstrates the unity and coherence of the Qur’an by centring everything on its message, like gems hung on a single string.

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202

Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

IN GOD’S PRESENCE
Editor's Notes
Excellences of surah An Nabaa
The messanger pbuh said” Al Waaqiah, Al Mursalaat, An Nabaa and At Takweer have made me grow old ( Tirmizi)
This whole surah shows a very unique relationship, and as we see in verse 3, Allah swt addresses the questions of unbelievers who asked about the DOJ “ About which they are in disagreement”. It has been answered in verse 39 by the following words,” That day is a sure reality”.
The relationship of verse 7 with verse 20:
In verse 7, It was told that Allah made the earth, strong and stable by fixing the mountains in it like pegs. “ And the mountains like pegs”. But in verse 20, it has been told that on DOJ, the mountains will move and vanish as if they were a mirage.
3. The relationship of verse 12 to verse 19:
In Verse 12, it was told that Allah has built above us seven strong heaven in which there is no cleft or creek. But in verse 19, it has been told that on the DOR, the sky will be opened and there will be plenty of doors in it.
These realtionships shows the intensity of DOJ that those mountains and heaven which was flawless and so strong from the beginning will become so vulnerable and week.
4. There is comparison between the pious people and the rebels in this surah.
The end of both will be different . Those who live with fear of the hereafter are pious and those who live without fear of the Hereafter become rebellious.
Section 1 of this sūrah opens by shunning those sarcastic enquiries.
When they asked these questions about DOJ, it is basically a means of insulting the Prophet sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam. One of the most effective ways to do this is to undermine others by making sarcastic comments.
Allah swt is responding their mockery, obviously the Messenger and the believers who are making da’wah are part of this sarcastic conversation, but from the very beginning, Allah is the third party. What we learn in the beginning is that Allah has taken offense to their comments and speak about the akhirah. Allah says: “What are they asking one another?”
They have been asking all over the Qur’an: “Are we going to be raised again, when we died and went in our graves?”
When Allah said in the Quran, “On the hell fire, nineteen guardians of the angels have been appointed.” One of the disbelievers said, “There are only nineteen? I can handle nineteen.” These were the kinds of criticisms and questions they had .
A lot of the time these days we see people get caught up on these missionary sites trying to respond to these sort of things. This is not new; these sorts of allegations have always been made.
AYAh 2: Then Allah continues: “Are they really asking about
naba` ul adheem? An Naba`
means“news.” There are two words in Arabic for news:
naba`
and
khabr
. What is the difference? First of all,
Naba
` is a greater kind of news`. If the store closes at seven, that is
khabr
. If someone won the election or a war started, that would be
naba
`.
Khabr
is used twice in the Qur’an; both in the same context. When Musa ‘alayhis salaam is with his
family in the dark and he sees a light from a distance, he tells them, “Maybe I’ll get some
khabr
from there.” He doesn’t know what the news will be. When Allah speaks of nations that were destroyed in the past, Allah speaks of the
naba
` - news – of those who came before.
The second difference is that naba` always has some benefit for the person receiving it and it demands a reaction/action. When you hear it, it demands that you change something about
yourself. For example, if you get the
naba
` of a fire in the building, it demands that you get out and also let others know that they should get out.
Let’s talk about
tasaa`u
to understand the connection. Allah is commenting on a discussion between three groups of disbelievers. There are three opinions about the tafseer of the word
yatasaa`alu
(theyare asking one another).
1.It is a depiction of believers being asked by disbelievers.
2.
This is a discourse that is taking place
between
the disbelievers.3.Both the disbelievers and the believers are asking the Messenger of Allah.
The one that is most true and is supported by the text is #2 – the disbelievers asking one another.
So this was the tone of sarcasm of unbelievers and Allah swt is addressing their sarcasm not the genuine questions.
Section 2 is a transition to another subject: “Did we not make the earth a smooth plain [mihaad ] for you?
:In first ayah Allah swt is mentioning his blessings to us because we recognizes and appreciate easily, by our eyesight, when look or touch things. 1. “Have We not spread and levelled the earth, and made the mountains as pegs?”
Both facts mentioned here can be easily recognized and appreciated by everyone.
Ayah 7: “ made the mountains as pegs”, meaning the mountains are very much like the pegs of a tent. From the Qur’ān we learn that they steady the earth and keep its balance. This may be because the height of the mountains offsets the depth of the seas and oceans.
An alternative explanation is that mountains balance out the inner with the outer movements of our planet. Or probably they merely increase the weight of the earth at certain spots to prevent its violent shaking with earthquakes, volcanoes.
Or There may be another explanation not yet known to man
In ayah 8: “We created you in pairs.” Again, this is a well established phenomenon, easily recognized by every human being. God has made the survival and continuity of mankind conditional on each of the two different sexes, male and female.
But unfrottuantely Human failed to appreciate these blessings but also spread corruption in Allah’s creation. One of many blessings as mentioned in Quran is that he created us in pair so the human race will continue , but look at our rebellious nature of mankind that now we are questioning about our own gender identity, not satisfy with Allah’s Qadr. Forget about non believers we have huge movement going on with in Muslim community, with in Islamic countries who are questioning about their gender identity. Recently I found out about the Young Muslim advocate group, that providing resources and platform for trans Muslim youth. The main heading on their website is “ I am Muslim and my gender does not fit me”. In order to destroy the family system, our society make zina easy and marriage hard, now this is another extreme where man is fall in love with another man and the get married , asftaghfirullah and what they claim they explore their women soul in a man body or man soul locked up in a women body. Look at the level of corruption of man kind,
We started the corruption by exploiting Allah;s favor which mention in this section, “We built above you seven mighty heavens, and placed therein a blazing lamp( sun). We send down out of the rain-clouds water in abundance, by which We bring forth grain and varied plants, and gardens thick with trees.” If you have not research enough the reason behind the climate change, please do so. This is the most important and urgent issue to be addressed in coming years.
Ayah 9:
Allah then says: “And made your sleep [a means for] rest…”Nowm is deep sleep. Allah says He made your sleep
Subaata , Sabatas sayra would be to cut a string. Literally, this subaat is that which cuts off .So Allah speaks of the night as something that cuts you off. What does it cut you off from? First of all, it cuts you off from your body – your soul departs from your body. It also cuts you off from daily affairs, business, tasks, family. You’re dead to the world. This foreshadows what Allah will talk about later – the resurrection. One essential feature of resurrection day: all human beings will be cut off from each other that day. A man will run from his family. The kind of cutting off that will be permanent, we will see later. But we experience a little something of that every single day through our sleep.
Ayah 10:
Waja'alna al layla libasa
“And We made the night as a garment.”( through its darkness). Why is the night a garment? Because is covers you up and takes over you as a blanket. A garment is something we hide underneath. We know that the Majority of the crimes take place at night. Secret ambush and robbery, rape are all associated with night. This is a Libaas (cloth) that we are not capable of getting rid of or taking off.
Because after mentioning that Allahs swt made sleep for our rest and he talks about the night and also mention that “ He made the day for seeking livelihood”. So it is very clear in these above ayahs that night is not for any type of social activities. When we studied the crime theories and rate of criminal activities, the statistics are very clear that the majority of the crimes happen in night.
Let me share some women perspective under this ayah. There are many rape happened in the night parties, where girls put them in those vulnerable situations where someone take advantage of that time. In criminology, one of the way to stop the crime is to avoid those situations where there is slight chance of crime. Unfortunately it is becoming a norm within our Muslim youth, where they are sleeping in the day and partying in the night and what happened in those parties, we also know. This is another rebel against the will of Allah swt and now we are witnessing the consequences. “

Section 3 – That Which You Denied
Al Fasl
So, to look back, the first section was about the denial of the hereafter. The second section was about human inability and the power of Allah. The third section, now that Allah has put everyone in their place, is about that which you denied
The Fateful DayThe sūrah takes another step, beyond resurrection, to describe the fate of the tyrant unbelievers and also that of the righteous. It begins with the former group who raise doubts about the fateful tiding: “Hell stands as a vigilant watch guard, a home for the tyrants and the transgressors. Therein they shall abide for ages, tasting neither coolness nor any drink, except boiling fluid and decaying filth: a fitting recompense.
The next verse provides an exception to this, but the exception is even worse: “except boiling fluid and decaying filth.” (Verse 25)
Their throats and stomachs burn as they drink the boiling fluid, which is the only ‘coolness’ they have, while their other drink is the filth of the burning bodies, decaying in the enormous heat. The Qur’ān comments that this is ‘what they deserve’. It is in keeping with what they have done in their lives.
This is because they thought they would never return to God: In Verse 27, Allah says“They did not expect to be faced with a reckoning, and roundly denied Our revelations.” What is it exactly that they did? They were the one who had no hopes of accountability. The wording is very careful. Allah does not say that they didn’t expect accountability; He says that they didn’t hope for it. If you don’t expect something, that means you had no idea. When you don’t hope for it, it means that you heard and knew about it, but you hoped it wouldn’t come. You let your false hopes that the accounting would not come delude you.
There are often Muslims even within our own families, that don’t want to talk about accountability. If you tell them, for example, “We’ll have to answer for how we earned our money,” they may brush it off and say something like, “Don’t depress me. I want to talk about something else.” They want to stay in their false hopes
“But We have placed on record every single thing.” (Verse 29) “Taste this, then; the only increase you shall have is increase of torment.” (Verse 30)
Allah says, “then go ahead and taste
all of you
.” Allah is speaking to them and it is showing Allah’s extreme anger with them.
And during this tormet What will they be begging for? A little relief, a little drink, but all they will get is punishment. May Allah protect us from hell. Ameen
In section Allah swt is mentioning his blessings to Mutataqeen.
Ayah 31:
Inna lilmuttaqeena mafaza
Verily, for the Righteous, there will be a success (Paradise);
Who are consider as successful in the eyes of Allah, not those who have big house, amazing educational credential or having amazing kids and husband but those who were taking precautions in this world, and avoiding the displeasure of Allah swt.
Taqwa is commonly translated as “fear”, but that is not correct. That would be “khowf.” Taqwa, here, refers to the precautions you take as a result of fear, the things you do because you are afraid. For example, locking your doors at night because you are afraid would be out of precaution. So taqwa is to take precaution. Taqwa is a feeling that results in some kind of action.
So these mutaqeeen will earned Allahs countless blessings on the DOJ. InshaAllay May Allah count us among Mutaqeen. Ameen
Ayah 35: Then Allah says they will not hear in those gardens laghw
(useless talk) or kidhaab
(when one person lies against another). Why does Allah mentioned these two specific things? In the beginning of the surah, the disbelievers are making useless talk. When they get to Jannah, the believers will not have to hear any of this. In Al ‘Imran, Allah says you will have to endure a lot of painful words from the kuffaar
. Even the messengers were told to have patience. Once in Jannah, the believers will not have to worry about any of this.
Also, those people who are working for the deen, constantly hear kidhaab( the lies)
– in the media. Especially now a days when media is been used to manipulate people's ideologies and it become so challenging to understand the real Haqq. There is a documentary recently came about the dilemma of social media, it will blow you mind that how through AI , we are becoming the slave of their ideologies, how google, Facebook, instragram all these big names is been used to manipulate and can wage a war. We have recently witnessed that how facbook is been used for Muslim brutality in India and Burma. So please watch that documentary this weekend with your kid, because they are the one who are using these the technologies the most. InshaAllah in next class we can share some of our thoughst and insights about that documentary.
So basically Allah swt is giving the Muttaqeen the glad tiding and assurance that you will no longer be tortured with these types of Khizhab and falsehood.
Verse: 38 ” The Day that Ar-Ruh [Jibrael (Gabriel) or another angel] and the angels will stand forth in rows, none shall speak except him whom the Most Beneficent (Allah) allows, and he will speak what is right”.
.Then Allah says: the day when ar-Ruh will stand and malaa`ika. There is almost ijmaa`[consensus] of them ufassiroon [the scholars of tafseer] that
ar-Ruh refers to Jibreel ‘alayhissalaam (Gabriel) almost every time in the Qur’an. Usually in the Qur’an, we see the reverse order –the angels are mentioned first and then Jibreel. This is a reversal in the sequence. One of the scholars of balaagha [literary beauty?], sh-Sha`raabi, commented on this: whenever you find a lot of movement, then angels are associated with going up and down and being in constant movement. There, you find
malaa`ika mentioned first. But when you find responsibility, Jibreel is mentioned first because he has the most responsibility. Another benefit of knowing this is that one of the theories of the mushrikoon
[polytheists] was that the angels would come and save them. Who is the greatest of the angels? Ar-Ruh [Jibreel/Gabriel]! And they will all be standing before Allah in straight rows, not saying a single word. So if the disbelievers had some hope that the angels would save them, then they are mistaken. The angels will be standing silent as well
Verse 39:
Dhaalikal yowm al haqq
There are three ways to translate this:1.“That is the true day”2.“That day is in fact the ultimate the truth” – this is favored by most scholars.3.“This is that true day which is coming”
In ayah 40 Allah swt says,
Inna andharnakum, It is indeed We who have warned you. The kaafir
thinks that Muhammad (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) is warning them, but Allah is telling them that the warning if from Allah swt.
And before the DOJ, these kuffars were walking around in arrogance, thinking that they will not face any accountability, but on that DOR he will wish he was dust. In Arabic tradition, dust was associated with humiliation. To put dust on someone face were expressions of humiliating someone. The last thing someone wants is to be associated with dust. He will face Allah and will wish he was that humiliated dust.
In conclusion, look how in the beginning the kuffaar were so arrogant, in complete denial of the hereafter. And then in the end, their state will be that they will not be able to speak. And Allah says that let them say what ever they wanna say about the DOJ, but a time will come when their mouth will be silent. Finally, Allah warned them that they will know the consequences of their speech, and they will say, “Oh, I wish that I were dust!”
