ThermalStar Radiant Comfort floor panels are made of expanded polystyrene and are used as a base for water-heated radiant floors. The panels come in new construction and retrofit models, with the new construction panels designed to be installed before pouring a concrete slab and the retrofit panels installed above the subfloor. The panels provide channels to hold heating tubing in place without stapling and eliminate the need for professional design or shop drawings. They also interlock for secure placement. The document provides details on panel sizes, properties, installation, warranty, and benefits of the panels for radiant floor heating systems.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
ThermalStar® Radiant Comfort™ floor panels are precision molded from expanded
polystyrene with a distinct orange color. The insulation panels form a firm base for
water heated radiant floors. Benefits to using Radiant Comfort™ include:
No stapling required– the groove channels hold the tubing right in place
No professional design or shop drawings needed
Eliminate the hassle with using left, right, and straight panels– one panel is used for
the entire installation
New construction panels interlock for a secure placement and to prevent concrete
from seeping through the joints in heated slab applications

*ThermalStar Radiant Comfort is elastic within 1-2% deformation. To prevent long term creep, 3:1 design safety factors for static loads of
the 10% deformation values are recommended, or use the tested 1% deformation values for design, whichever is greater.

Radiant Comfort™ Floor Panels
INSTALLATION/HANDLING
ThermalStar Radiant Comfort can be
handled much the same as wood sheath-
ing, using similar tools or simple utility
knives to cut, score, shape, or otherwise
customize panels to fit the application.
THERMAL RESISTANCE
R means resistance to heat flow. The
higher the R-value, the greater the
insulating power.
WARRANTY
ThermalStar Radiant Comfort floor panels
are backed by a limited lifetime warranty
for physical and thermal performance.
FEEL THE HEAT BENEATH
YOUR FEET™
ThermalStar Radiant Comfort panels are available in
two types: new construction and retrofit panels. The
new construction panels are designed to be installed
prior to pouring a heated concrete slab. The retrofit
floor panels are designed to be installed above the
subfloor, and below the flooring option (hardwood
floors, ceramic tiles, carpet, etc.). Since Radiant
Comfort is manufactured out of EPS, it provides both a
heating system template and insulation. Radiant
Comfort panels save on installation time and
eliminates the guesswork for professionals and home-
owners alike.
