The children of Baytown brought their stuffed animals to spend the night at the library for summer reading. Ms. Tracey brought an unexpected animal, a tortoise, that the other animals befriended. The animals participated in various activities like racing the tortoise, telling jokes, getting food at Someburger, watching movies, playing hide and seek, sharing stories, having bubble time, and meeting the storytime bunny before the librarians put them to bed at the end of the night.

Park Hill Branch Stuffed Animal Sleepover
On Thursday, July 19, 2012, a bunch of stuffed animals came to storytime at the Park Hill Branch Library to hear some stories and sing some songs. We had great fun and our kids did too. Then our children left and we stayed the day and night to learn more about how the library works. Check out what we learned!

The students continued learning about stories and authors through various activities including character studies and illustrations inspired by author Pamela Allen.

- 2. It was the last day of summer reading and Baytown’s children brought their favorite stuffed animals to spend the night!
- 3. As the animals arrived, they waited patiently inside the library.
- 4. Ms. Tracey from the Wetlands Center brought the wrong kind of stuffed animal…
- 5. But the other animals befriended him anyway.
- 6. Tracey also brought a tortoise Whom the animals decided to race!
- 7. Little Bunny started in the lead… … but he got tired and took a nap.
- 8. Ms. Tracey brought another animal, too… Ms. Tracey brought another animal, too… Can you see him?
- 9. Is it here? Or is it there?
- 10. The reptiles hung out in the 500’s...
- 11. …while the monkeys looked up jokes What do you call a monkey with a banana in each ear?
- 12. Anything you want, it can’t hear you!
- 13. A few of the animals got hungry and took the librarians for a ride
- 14. It was tough because Tom couldn’t reach the pedals!
- 15. They managed to get across the street...
- 16. … and ended up at Someburger.
- 17. Tom had to pay with a credit card…
- 18. … because the animals spent all their money at the copy machine!
- 19. They decided to watch a movie while they ate The Bears wanted “Bear Dance Party”. The Dogs wanted “12 Dogs for Christmas”.
- 20. Miss Piggy suggested they hold a beauty pageant instead.
- 21. Miss Piggy and the Swan disagreed about who should win… But the rest of the animals suggested a different game before feathers could fly!
- 22. They chose Hide and Seek!
- 23. A few hid in a secret room. It had a floor that moved!
- 24. The animals worked up an appetite.
- 25. Their food was gone in no time!
- 26. Everyone decided to share their favorite stories before bed time.
- 27. Clifford found out he’s a star!
- 28. The animals enjoyed hearing Mirlanda read Cinderella.
- 29. Dr. Seuss and Curious George were also favorites.
- 30. Bubble time came after storytime!
- 31. They were all very excited to meet the storytime bunny.
- 32. And then they made new friends at play time!
- 33. Eventually the librarians got tired and put the animals to bed.
- 34. And the Animals and Librarians dreamt of when they would get to return home. The End!
