The animals of City Zoo learn that their zoo is in debt and will close unless money can be raised. At a meeting, the Wise Old Owl explains that the zookeeper uses money to buy things for the animals. The animals then get jobs in the city to earn money. Each animal finds work that suits their abilities. At the end of each day, the animals return to the zoo tired but happy, having secretly helped the keeper. When enough money is raised, the animals present it to the keeper and save the zoo from closing. The extra money is used to renovate the zoo, which becomes popular and ensures its future.
