Name of the Experiment:
Study on Digitizing of the paper pattern.
1. Introduction:
Digitizing is a method of converting the paper pattern to a computer-readable soft
design. By capturing or scanning the paper pattern digitizing can occur. From a very
early time, this process is lengthy. Attaching a plan is not editable, but now the system
is more modern and capturing, and editing varies from software to software.
2. Objective:
Able to produce delicate patterns from a paper pattern.
Learn how digitizing take place.
Able to maintain the computer-readable digital print made from the usual paper
board.
Able to save a long time rather than paper pattern making.

4. Working Principle:
At first, we take a paper pattern, and then we cut it with a knife according to the
design position.
After cutting the pattern, we get some pieces of the pattern. These cutting patterns
we used for digitizing purposes.
The paper is placed on a digitized board, a bullet magnet clips the attaching point
with the board, and in the grain line, we used a coin magnet, which can help
determine the grain line of a pattern.
The picture is taken with the help of a camera. We should keep in mind that the
requirements of this camera are more than eight megapixels, and in the time of
capturing, we should capture the entire board with a pattern means the frame should
contain the whole board with the pattern.
After capturing these pictures, we save them in any position of the computer.
Then we open the Audaces Digiflash` v5: in the computer.
In this software, we get too many tolls and application dashboards of software.
Among them, we select the Insert or Extract option then select the design from our
previously save location.
After seeing the selected picture, we press Import then these paper patterns turn into
computer edit and readable pattern.
4. Sometimes, the computer reads the notch point of a design as a curve; we can easily
give a command to the computer to adjust the notch manually draw by mouse or
direct height, width, shape, ratio, etc. up a notch in the paper design.
If the grain line is missing in the pattern, it can easily be added and renamed
quickly.
In the toolbar, we see a ruler which can determine the length straightly of any
pattern.
We can also pair the pattern if they are mirror imaged.
Finally, after manipulating and editing the grain line and paper name, we finalized
the design and saved it as a CAD file in any computer location.
After opening the `Audaces Apparel v14` file, we see that the previously captured
pattern turns into a digital design.
5. Result:
After the coronavirus pandemic, we did this procedure in our lab, and after importing
the image, we take a snap of our work. We also carry a picture after converting the
pattern into a digital one from `Audaces Apparel v14` the photos are attached below-
5. 6. Precaution:
In paper cutting, we should be careful; otherwise, knife or hand movement can
destroy the pattern or cause unwanted accidents by cutting our hands.
In the time of attached the pattern with marker, we should be careful.
In photo capturing, we should maintain the frame with the entire digital board and
patterns, and the photo we captured should be well focused and clear.
If any grain line or pattern name is missing, we should correct it, and observation is
a must during editing.
After importing from an image, the file should save in a decent place on the
computer to easily find it when we need to do work with it.
CAD is high configured software. It uses the maximum percentage of RAM during
working, so the cooling system of CPU should be standard; otherwise, it causes
heating of computer and software can be hanged or lacked.
All the measurement are consider in centimeter.
7. Conclusion:
In this experiment, we learn how to make a digital soft pattern from a paper pattern. The
modern era is an era of fast working in an intelligent way. If we make a pattern
manually, it takes more time, and the chance of error is higher in this case. Digitizing
method can help us make a delicate pattern from a paper pattern. This method
minimizes our time of pattern making if we need similar types of practice in the future.
The new design we produced for CAD can be editable from the picture, and we can edit
the size as we wish. By this experiment, we are beneficial when working as apparel
specialists in the industry. We can also minimize our work pressure rather than making a
pattern in a manual system.
