The document provides 5 prompts for analyzing connections between at least two texts studied in light of given assertions about literature and human experiences. For each response, students must include analysis of at least one post-1990 text, and discuss what it means to be a modern reader considering texts in a modern context. Other readers from different time periods may have had different responses. The prompts relate to how love can be productive or destructive, how idealization enables and impedes love, how literature provides escapism, how novels and poetry explore emotions, and the relationship between truth and offense.
