Students are expected to attend all classes and contact instructors if they must be absent. Students missing the first three days of class will be dropped from the roster. The student code of conduct prohibits disruptive behaviors like eating in class, cell phone use, monopolizing discussions, and disrespecting other students. Instructors can remove students from class for disruptive behaviors. Laptop and mobile device use is at the instructor's discretion, and devices should not be used for messaging, games, or other non-class activities unless permitted. Mobile phones must be silenced and only used outside of class unless an instructor grants an exception. Electronic devices cannot be used for academic dishonesty or illegal activities.

1. GED: Policies for Students
Class Attendance:
You are expected to attend all lecture classes regularly. You are also responsible for materials
covered during your absences. Instructors may be willing to consult with you for make-up
assignments, but it is your responsibility to contact the instructor. Class attendance is monitored
daily.
Student drops: Students missing the three days of class, will be dropped from the Roster. Please
speak with the instructor to make arrangements, if you are unable to attend the class.
Student Code of Conduct:
Behavior which is disruptive is not appropriate to the classroom. They are:
 Eating in class
 Ringing cell phone
 Monopolizing classroom discussions
 Failing to respect the rights of other students to express their viewpoints
 Talking when the instructor or others are speaking
 Constant questions or interruptions which interfere with the instructor’s
presentation
 Overt inattentiveness (e.g., sleeping or reading the paper in class)
 Creating excessive noise with papers, book bags, etc.
 Frequently entering class late or leaving early
 Use of cell phones or other electronic devices in the classroom
 Inordinate or inappropriate demands for time and attention
Instructor are allow to remove any students from classroom for any disruptive behavior(s).
Students must, at all times, remain respectful and courteous to all individuals in the
Alliance building including: fellow students, instructors, coaches, staff members, cleaning
staffs, etc.
Laptop, notebook, and tablet computers: The use of mobile computers in class is at the
discretion of the instructor. Instructors are asked to consider allowing the use of mobile computing
devices to take notes, and for activities formerly done in computer labs. The instructor may restrict
the use of laptops to specific purposes and may prohibit other uses such as messaging, game

2. playing, and Internet surfing during class time. If possible the instructor should outline mobile
device usage guidelines for the class at the beginning of the semester, preferably in the syllabus.
However; the instructor can change these guidelines if circumstances warrant.
Mobile phones: Mobile phones can be disruptive in the classroom in a number of ways and their
use should not be abused. Ringtones must be turned off in class, and if on, phones must be in
vibrate mode. If there is a need to check for and/or receive a call (New York Alert or parent with
sick child and similar needs), the student must inform the instructor in advance that the student
may need to excuse him/herself to take an important call. Students should refrain from text
messaging in the classroom unless the instructor has given permission. Students who create a
disturbance by mobile phone use will be warned and may be asked to leave the class session if the
behavior continues.
Electronic devices and academic dishonesty: The course instructor can ban or limit the use of
these devices in ways that might promote academic dishonesty. Academic dishonesty will be
automatic dismissal from the program, classes, and any other programs.
Electronic devices and illegal activities: A course instructor or facility manager may prohibit
activities that s/he knows will violate laws, such as those related to intellectual property rights or
copyrights, invasions of privacy or sexual harassment.
