    • At the discretion of the teacher there may be an
      opportunity for the student to rewrite the assignment
                                                                            for Students and Parents
      (unless it is a Culminating Activity).

   Second (and/or Subsequent) Offence

    • The severity of the offence and the number and nature
      of previous offences will be taken into account when
      determining the consequences of second, and any
      subsequent, offences

    • Consequences may include:

           • removal from extracurricular activities
             (including performances, clubs, teams and
             positions of student leadership)
           • office detentions
           • suspension
           • denial of course credit

All students accused of plagiarism have the right to appeal                        Academic Honesty

Plagiarism                                         How to Avoid Plagiarism
                                                                                Student Expectations
Plagiarism is one form of academic dishonesty. Plagiarism is
usually defined as “presenting someone else’s words and
ideas as one’s own”. (TDSB SEcondary FreshAER)                      • seek clarification from teachers about what
                                                                      constitutes plagiarism;
Plagiarism can take many forms, some of which include
the following:                                                      • seek remediation when
                                                                      research skills are deficient;
    • submitting work previously submitted in one class to
      another teacher in a different class;
    • copying assignments or homework from another
                                                                    • understand the penalties for
      student;                                                        academic dishonesty and
    • allowing someone to copy your work for a submission             plagiarism; and,
      in class;
    • cutting and pasting from the Internet without giving
      credit;
                                                                    • ensure that all their work is original and that they
    • using someone else’s way of organising a paper without          cite sources accurately and consistently.
