Strategic Evaluation and Recommendation
Introduction
The ultimate goal for any company is to be not only profitable
but also successful. It is important for businesses, of any size,
to develop business strategies to aid the company in attaining
these goals. The company is at the top of their industry and the
topics outlined in this paper will offer insight on what they need
to do to remain successful into the future. This report will
discuss potential value disciplines for the chosen organization. I
will also evaluate the possible grand strategies as well as
measure the possible global strategies for the company. Also,
this report will identify the best general, grand and global
strategies but also the best value disciplines. Finally, it will
recommend strategies or a blend of strategies that should be
implemented by Worthington Industries as well as include the
reason for these recommendations.
Evaluate potential business level strategies for the organization
Potential Generic Strategies Generic strategies are a line of
attacks that can be utilized by companies, of any size, to acquire
a competitive advantage as well as have an influence in their
markets. For every business, there are three different generic
strategies in which to choose. They include:
• Cost Leadership Strategy – this approach promotes obtaining a
competitive advantage because of the decreased cost of
manufacturing goods and services; however, a decline in
production cost does not mean a reduction in price (Ireland,
Hoskisson, & Hitt, 2008).
•Differentiation Strategy – this strategy is comprised of the
development of different goods and services for various market
segments; it also offers protection from various markets as well
as product life phases, permitting money to flow in if certain
company products are on the decline while others are growing
and maturing.
•Focus Strategy is a type of strategy composed of looking at a
narrowly defined market segment. Sometimes called a ‘niche’
segment; businesses that operate under this approach have
buyers that know, are grateful for and are willing to pay a
premium price for luxury goods and service (Inkpen, &
Ramaswamy, 2006).
The other key business level, strategies consists of the
development of clearer unique benefits, proper utilization of the
human resources, close monitoring of the product plans, and
finally, accurately identifying the market niches. Through these,
the organization will have clearer ways in which they will be
able to review the strategies for the business operations.
Assess potential corporate level strategies for the organization
Previously, this learning team was asked to create a strategic
plan for the organization. The Chief Executive Officer (C.E.O.),
was invited to evaluate different strategies and give his
recommendations for the corporation. The report discusses
potential value disciplines for the organization; as well as
potential grand and global strategies for the conglomerate.
Furthermore, the report identifies the best general, high, and
global strategies and the best value disciplines; as well as a
recommendation for a strategy or combination of strategies for
the organization to implement. The report gives a rationale for
the proposal. Assess potential value disciplines for the
organization. Conferring with enterprise officials, Martin
understands such extraordinary development is realized, in the
midst of other ways, through the saturation of novel and
unexploited “markets like China, India, Mexico, and South
Africa.” Likewise, organization’s potential value disciplines
included improving its publicizing method and precisely
marking new segments such as multi-ethnic adolescents and
females; as well as, proposing different sizes of merchandises.
The company must continue to evaluate the performance of its
stock cost and the value of the business by employing the cut-
rate stream of cash. The organization has been emerging first-
hand soft thirst-quencher varieties such as Coke Zero; not to
mention differentiating into new merchandises including,
vitamin liquid and vitality beverages. Evaluate potential grand
strategies for the organization Grand strategies are key, all-
encompassing stratagems that outline the progression of a
corporate (Robin, & Reidenbach, 1987). In comparing
maneuvers, ambitious plans are intensive on the long-standing
objectives of the commerce. Acting as C.E.O. of the
organization means thinking of critical approaches connecting
all from merchandise improvement to insolvency. Dissimilar
lines of attack will, no doubt, be appropriate for different
circumstances; therefore, it helps to
Some of the factors that the corporate business strategy may
include the adequate guidance on how the market is defined,
with the inclusion of the geographic scope. Moreover, a
corporate level strategy may be crucial in distinguishing it from
the other available plans and the processes of planning that
incorporated the terminology, “strategic,” within them.
Therefore, the leading management has fundamental duties of
making responsibilities when it comes to the development of
useful corporate strategies and the managers have a direct
responsibility of providing capital to the particular
organization.
Assess potential global strategies for the organization
By definition, a comprehensive strategy is a term that has been
shortened and spans through three key categories; global,
international, and even multinational strategies. When
developing its global strategy, the organization has clearly
understood the actual difference between the various forms of
the international expansions that may result from the resources
from the organization, its capabilities, and the position it holds
on the international level. When considering the global strategy,
the primary objective of the firm has closer relations to the
market at home. On the other hand, a multinational approach is
when the firm has involvement in a series of demands that spans
beyond its host country. Finally, the global strategy is when the
company thoroughly treats the world as being a single general
market.
Recommend a strategy or combination of strategies the
organization should implement, and include a rationale for that
recommendation
The wise position that the firm should take is to consider
incorporating all of the strategies combined. Strategic planning
lays the foundation for the achievement of success by assisting
the company to attain the goals and objectives of the firm.
Therefore, the incorporation of ethics would ensure that the
corporation enjoys lasting success. The primary function of
corporate social responsibility in business is to ensure that the
company fulfills the societal expectations from the enterprise
(Singhapakdi, Vitell, Rallapalli & Kraft, 1996). Hence, it is
only through the use of the three strategies combined can the
firm effectively realize its objectives.

National Museum of the American Indian
America has built several museums that are related to particular
races in America. The National Museum of the American Indian
is one of the institutions that are spread across America that are
built to represent the culture and the people of the Indian origin.
Indian is one of the minority groups of people who are believed
to be the natives of the United States. The museum is one of
the Smithsonian Institutions in America that are constructed
purposely to language, literature, history and the art of the
Native Americans who are believed to have occupied the
western Hampshire (Thornton, 2016). The museum has three
branches that include the George Gustav Heye Center, the
National Museum of American Indian and the National Mall in
Washington D.C. the permanent located in New York and the
cultural resource center that is also a research facility in
Suitland in Maryland (West, 2015). All the above facilities and
services were housed under one roof in the national museum of
Native American before they were relocated in different places
to allow for the expansion of the premises all over America.
This paper will look at the insight composition and historical
background of the national museum of Native American and its
benefits to the Indians and the American society as a whole.
Background of the National Museum of the American Indian
The United States Senator Daniel Inouye formed the National
Museum of the American Indians following the motion in 1989,
which resulted in the passage of the national museu7m of the
American Indian Act. The Act was in response to the discovery
of the native America that the Smithsonian institutions in
America held over 18000 (Thornton, 2016). The Act resulted in
the establishment of the National Museum of the American
Indians, which was to act as the living memory of the tradition
of the Native American in America. The Act among other things
demanded the return of the illegally acquired objects and
traditional regalia to returned to the community, and it
demanded the repatriation of the tribes’ human remains,
funerary, object regarded as culture patrimony among other to
the tribe. Following the passage of the Act, Smithsonian has
been able to surrender more than 5000 humans remains to the
community, which is about one-third of the human remains in
its custody. During the inaugural of the National Museum of the
American Indian, the senator who introduced the motion
addressed more than 20000 Native American, which is the
largest gathering of the citizens in American history.
The law resulted in the merger of the Smithsonian Institution
and the George Gustav Heye Center in the city of New York
(Thornton, 2016). The Heye collection, which formerly
displayed in the Audubon Terrace, was looking for its location
until in the year 1990 when it became part of the Smithsonian
institutions in America. The National Museum of the American
Indian has several options to think of on where to be relocated
ranging from the Ross Perot offered to be a house in the new
museum house in Dallas, merging with the museum of national
history or even transfer to the United States custom house.
However, the Heye trust was another obstacle to the relocation
of the facility, as the trust required that the movement of the
collection should restrict to New York City and therefore the
politicians from New York City opposed its relocation. The
issue has delayed the relocation of the Heye collection to the
National Museum of the American Indian (West, 2015). A
compromised situation allows for consensus between those who
want the groups to remain in New York City and those who
want the collection to move to the rightful place in the National
Museum of the Native American in Washington D.C. The
museum was located in the Alexander Hamilton Customs House
in the lower Manhattan before it opened its building in
Washington D.C in 2005. The next move will be watched with
many interests among the politicians and the Native Americans.
Locations of the National Museum of the American Indian
As earlier stated or rather noted in this article, the National
Museum of the Native American located in their major places in
America (Shannon, 2014). The national mall in Washington,
D.C, George Gustav Heye Center that located in New York City
and the Cultural Resource Center located in the heart of the
Indians in Maryland.
National Mall
The national mall located in Washington D.C, and it opened in
September of 2004. The museum remains to be the only national
museum that dedicated to the Native Americans in the United
States (Green, 2016). The building housed in the 250000-
square-foot curvilinear house that painted in golden color. The
museum located on 4.25 acres that are rounded by a wetland.
Like the Heyes in the lower Manhattan; the mall furnished with
several exhibitions, film, and video screening, living culture
presentations among other activities that relate to the culture
and the tradition of the Native American (Shannon, 2014).
The Canadian Douglas Cardinal designed the museum. Other
companies developed the project, but during the construction of
the building, Cardinal was ex-communicated by the original
design remained his. In fact, believed that the building could
be completed because of his input even after his
excommunication from the project. The Native Americans run
the building, and the design of the museum was done to be
different from the European and the Euro-American culture. The
landscape of the building is intended to meet the culture norms
of the Native American (Shannon, 2014). According to the
museum managing director, the museum was designed to be the
trees, the water and the rock of the American society. The
museum was intended to simplify the Native Americans. The
Mitsitam Native Foods Cafe divided into Native regional
sections such as the Northern Woodlands, South America, the
Northwest Coast, Meso-America, and the Great Plains; the
museum has published a Mitisam Cafe Cookbook.
The George Gustav Heye Center
George Gustav Heye was an American Indian native who
traveled all over the country collecting natural objects and
received them to a single center. His objects were assembled in
America for over 50 years beginning in the year 1903. He was
the man behind the museum of the American native that started
under his foundation known as the Heye Foundation. The
organization opened the Museum of the American Indian to the
public in 1922 at the Audubon Terrace and later closed in 1944
(Green, 2016). Part of the collections that were in the museum
become part of the collections housed under the Gustav Heyes
Center that occupy the two floors of the Alexander Hamilton
Custom House. The house was designed by architect Cass
Gilbert and completed in 1907. It intended to represent the
landmark building that represents the Native Americans
(Rushing III, 2013). The museum located on 1.3 acres that are
rounded by a wetland. Just like the Heyes in the lower
Manhattan, the mall is furnished with several exhibitions, film
and video screening, living culture presentations among other
activities that relate to the culture and the tradition of the
Native American.
Culture Resources Center
The cultural resource center located in Maryland in the United
States of America. The resource center is managed and operated
by the National Museum of the American Indian. The collection
housed in an enormous house, which is nautilus-shaped
(Rushing III, 2013). The building houses many collections, a
library and has the largest photo archive for the Native
American tribes in America. The center opened in the year 2003
by the National Museum of the Native American board. These
are the three national museums of the Native American managed
by a single board of directors that are made up of the Native
Americans.
Collections
Most of the collections that were collected by George Gustav
Heyes and that were under the foundation's Museum of the
Native American were taken and are now housed in the National
Museum of the American Indian (Rushing III, 2013). The
museum is believed to have a collection of more than 800000
objects and more than 125000 photographic images of the past
people and events of the Native Americans. The groups divided
into several categories that include the Amazon, California
great basin, Arctic and subarctic and The Andes. The
collections also include objects or rather collections that have
been done recently groped under the contemporary collections
that include Mesoamericans and the Northwest Coast.
Most of the groups, which later became part of the Smithsonian,
were collected through the efforts of one high man known
George Gustav in early 1990 who traveled through America to
collect the objects and the native paraphernalia housed in the
National Museum of the Native American (Green, 2016). The
collections in the museums are not subjected or rather protected
by the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act
but protected under the National Museum of the American
Indian Act that provided the model under which the museums
created. Apart from the Act, the museum management talks with
the native tribes over the need to safeguard some of their
heritage and cultural items that are of value to the native tribes
(Rushing III, 2013). The collections are preserved under the
custody of the several workers of the museum through several
ways that are used to protect traditional objects among the
Native Americans such as smudging and smoking.
Conclusion
The United States Senator Daniel Inouye formed the National
Museum of the American Indians following the motion in 1989,
which resulted in the passage of the National Museum of the
American Indian Act. The National Museum of the American
Indian located in their major places in America. The national
mall in Washington, D.C, George Gustav Heye Center that
found in New York City and the Cultural Resource Center that
located in the heart of the Indians in Maryland. The collections
in the museums are not subjected or rather protected by the
Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act but
protected under the National Museum of the American Indian
Act that provided the model under which the museums created.
Apart from the Act, the museum management talks with the
native tribes over the need to safeguard some of their heritage
and cultural items that are of value to the native tribes.

Environmental Scan
Environmental Scan refers to reviewing of external
factors that affect a business. The main aim of this
environmental scan is to identify and consult sources outside
the firm. These sources are usually uncontrollable though
critical in decision-making processes. The main idea behind this
business is to allow the consumer to purchase products directly
from the producer using the internet as a platform. The
technological advancements have been the driving factor for
online sales and marketing.
For this to be successful, an environmental scan has to be in
place throughout the formation and running of the business. The
major environmental scan components that will apply to this
particular business will include evaluating of the business’
external environment, assessing the company’s general situation
and assess the organization's industry operating environment
(Bakhru, 2015). When working in a very competitive industry,
the short and long-term goals of the organization must be
clearly defined and established during every step of the
business. Specifically, the primary purpose of the firm would be
to develop a niche market for itself and a unique product that
will satisfy the needs of this niche market. For example, the
company may choose to deal in fashion items and accessories
hence the goal would be to establish a niche market for such
products and their unique needs.
However, for the company to achieve such a goal, it must create
and implement a comprehensive strategy that will facilitate the
target attainment. The plan may include advertising and
marketing techniques aimed at reaching the specific audience.
For example, the use of social media and strategies such as the
search engine optimization (SEO) may significantly help with
the targeting of the particular niche market. With regards to
evaluation, the same tools can be evaluated to establish their
effectiveness in the attainment of the overall goal. That is, for
social media and SEO, instruments such as Google analytics can
significantly assist with determining the impact of the
company’s online activities as far as the overall goal is
concerned. Additionally, the way the actual business will
implement will determine whether the firm will be successful in
the long run (Rockville, 2015). For instance, the business must
have an efficient website, which will be easy to access and use
for the consumer. Therefore, the actual design of the online
store has to be nicely done, with the principal features that
support the actions of the user online. For example, the website
must have an integrated payment system, including a shopping
cart that calculates the shopper’s total purchases and supports
credit card payments.
Finally, the analysis is also important in the strategic
management process as the business can gain valuable insights
into this process. For example, different products can be
analyzed to determine the product that will comprehensively
address the needs of the selected niche. Additionally, the
various wholesale companies can be pitted against each other to
find out the ones with the best quality products at the most
reasonable rates. At this step, the research on logistics such as
shipping may help the company determine the most convenient
method for getting the product from the wholesaler to the
consumer upon purchasing.
The ever-increasing competition in the industry will
consequently lead to the company adopting an innovative
strategy that will assist it in its efforts to remain on top of the
game; this prompted us to do an environmental scan of the
company’s external environment. The competition pricing
policy, their advertisement, products they offered, proximity to
our startup company, customer service and customer feedback;
this gave us a clear insight of the kind of competition to expect
and the way to conduct our business with the best practices that
will likely put us ahead of the game. Considering; the recent
economic difficulties in the country, our analysis saw it fit to
start on a small profit margin as we had earlier anticipated; this
saw us taking a cut of the prices of products so as not to be
kicked out of the business before we even start.
We saw fit to have our own company’s website where the
customers can check for the company’s details and products
online so as to know what exactly to expect from the enterprise.
Also, it was also evident that the growth of social media
necessitated for the opening of Twitter and Facebook accounts
so as to connect easily with people in the social media (Landry,
2016). The legal system of the central government and the local
authorities both are applied to the local authorities’ issue out
licenses and collect taxes whereas the national government has
some rules that govern our interaction with the members of the
public.
Innovation is important in the industry as the business that
fails to create new approaches and ideas to solve the common
problems they face are in most cases left behind regarding
competition. The business will, for this reason, sought to be a
trendsetter in the industry to avoid the consequences that come
with lack of innovation. New services will, therefore, be
consistently created, in addition to the constant improvements
made to the existing products and services offered by the
business (Traylor, 2016). However, in cases where the
competition appears to have the edge on new goods and
services, the business will ensure it catches up by not only
keeping up with the trends in the industry but also by adjusting
the newly developed services and products to align them with
the company’s goals and objectives. Specifically, the
innovations tailored to the likes and preferences of the specific
users of the website for online shopping.
Both the external and internal environment of a company is
crucial to the company’s success and is interrelated. The
personal circumstances of a company have to be conducive for
the employees and should be in hand with the legal
requirements of the enterprise.
The company will not produce cheap goods so that to sell
products at lower prices to increase sells and do projects as this
will be unethical. The company will not also engage in false
advertising to attract more cell, and the external environment
will always dictate our operations.
The organization's industry operating environment consists
of factors such as the bargaining power of suppliers; it,
therefore, describes the capability power of buyers, the threat of
substitute products or services, and the degree of rivalry among
existing competitors. The suppliers bargaining power was fairly
good thus this prompts goods of fair prices. The buyers found to
like bargaining so much; this made us come with quite some
strategies to try to ensure that our business won’t entirely run
on losses. The degree of the rivalry was fairly good thus the
company will cope fairly well with its competitors.
In conclusion, the success of any business venture is based
primarily on a thorough environmental scan, and the scan
should be a continuous process carried not only at the start of
the firm but also throughout the existence of the business.

Online Retailing Values and Strategy
The growth of the online retail industry has been steady over

and services, the business will ensure it catches up by not only
keeping up with the trends in the industry but also by adjusting
the newly developed services and products to align them with
the company’s goals and objectives. Specifically, the
innovations tailored to the likes and preferences of the specific
users of the website for online shopping (Adner, 2006).
Ethics and social responsibility are important when it comes to
the development of a strategic plan for any business. Strategic
planning lays the foundation for the achievement of success by
assisting the company to attain the goals and objectives of the
firm. Therefore, the incorporation of ethics would ensure that
the corporation enjoys lasting success. The primary function of
corporate social responsibility in business is to ensure that the
company fulfills the societal expectations from the enterprise
(Singhapakdi, Vitell, Rallapalli & Kraft, 1996). That is, CSR
influences the decisions made by the business, as the decision
must consider the different stakeholders including the society.
About ethics, it also plays a key role in the formulation of the
plans of business as ethical principles regulate actions of the
firm. Therefore, the business has to balance the moral and
societal demands with its interests such as maximizing profits
(Robin & Reidenbach, 1987). For example, when making plans
for excavating raw material for producing the goods for
business, the impact of this action on the environment must be
assessed. Similarly, if the piece of the land is of other benefits
to the community, for example, a recreational park, then moral
values will come into play in this scenario; this will, in turn,
determine how the company will go about with the entire
process.
In conclusion, the success of any business venture is based
primarily on the strategic management components such goal
setting, analysis, strategy formulation, implementation, and
evaluation and control of the firm. Social responsibility and
ethics ought to be upheld to achieve sustainable success and the
public loyalty.

Alex Medina May 22,2017 Strategic Evaluation and Recommendation Introduction The ultimate goal for any company is to be not only profitable but also successful. It is important for businesses, of any size, to develop business strategies to aid the company in attaining these goals. The company is at the top of their industry and the topics outlined in this paper will offer insight on what they need to do to remain successful into the future. This report will discuss potential value disciplines for the chosen organization. I will also evaluate the possible grand strategies as well as measure the possible global strategies for the company. Also, this report will identify the best general, grand and global strategies but also the best value disciplines. Finally, it will recommend strategies or a blend of strategies that should be implemented by Worthington Industries as well as include the reason for these recommendations. Evaluate potential business level strategies for the organization Potential Generic Strategies Generic strategies are a line of attacks that can be utilized by companies, of any size, to acquire a competitive advantage as well as have an influence in their markets. For every business, there are three different generic strategies in which to choose. They include: • Cost Leadership Strategy – this approach promotes obtaining a competitive advantage because of the decreased cost of manufacturing goods and services; however, a decline in production cost does not mean a reduction in price (Ireland, Hoskisson, & Hitt, 2008).
  • 7.
•Differentiation Strategy –this strategy is comprised of the development of different goods and services for various market segments; it also offers protection from various markets as well as product life phases, permitting money to flow in if certain company products are on the decline while others are growing and maturing. •Focus Strategy is a type of strategy composed of looking at a narrowly defined market segment. Sometimes called a ‘niche’ segment; businesses that operate under this approach have buyers that know, are grateful for and are willing to pay a premium price for luxury goods and service (Inkpen, & Ramaswamy, 2006). The other key business level, strategies consists of the development of clearer unique benefits, proper utilization of the human resources, close monitoring of the product plans, and finally, accurately identifying the market niches. Through these, the organization will have clearer ways in which they will be able to review the strategies for the business operations. Assess potential corporate level strategies for the organization Previously, this learning team was asked to create a strategic plan for the organization. The Chief Executive Officer (C.E.O.), was invited to evaluate different strategies and give his recommendations for the corporation. The report discusses potential value disciplines for the organization; as well as potential grand and global strategies for the conglomerate. Furthermore, the report identifies the best general, high, and global strategies and the best value disciplines; as well as a recommendation for a strategy or combination of strategies for the organization to implement. The report gives a rationale for the proposal. Assess potential value disciplines for the organization. midst of otherways, through the saturation of novel and unexploited “markets like China, India, Mexico, and South Africa.” Likewise, organization’s potential value disciplines included improving its publicizing method and precisely marking new segments such as multi-ethnic adolescents and females; as well as, proposing different sizes of merchandises. The company must continue to evaluate the performance of its stock cost and the value of the business by employing the cut- rate stream of cash. The organization has been emerging first- hand soft thirst-quencher varieties such as Coke Zero; not to mention differentiating into new merchandises including, vitamin liquid and vitality beverages. Evaluate potential grand strategies for the organization Grand strategies are key, all- encompassing stratagems that outline the progression of a corporate (Robin, & Reidenbach, 1987). In comparing maneuvers, ambitious plans are intensive on the long-standing objectives of the commerce. Acting as C.E.O. of the organization means thinking of critical approaches connecting all from merchandise improvement to insolvency. Dissimilar lines of attack will, no doubt, be appropriate for different circumstances; therefore, it helps to Some of the factors that the corporate business strategy may include the adequate guidance on how the market is defined, with the inclusion of the geographic scope. Moreover, a corporate level strategy may be crucial in distinguishing it from the other available plans and the processes of planning that incorporated the terminology, “strategic,” within them. Therefore, the leading management has fundamental duties of making responsibilities when it comes to the development of useful corporate strategies and the managers have a direct responsibility of providing capital to the particular organization. Assess potential global strategies for the organization By definition, a comprehensive strategy is a term that has been

shortened and spansthrough three key categories; global, international, and even multinational strategies. When developing its global strategy, the organization has clearly understood the actual difference between the various forms of the international expansions that may result from the resources from the organization, its capabilities, and the position it holds on the international level. When considering the global strategy, the primary objective of the firm has closer relations to the market at home. On the other hand, a multinational approach is when the firm has involvement in a series of demands that spans beyond its host country. Finally, the global strategy is when the company thoroughly treats the world as being a single general market. Recommend a strategy or combination of strategies the organization should implement, and include a rationale for that recommendation The wise position that the firm should take is to consider incorporating all of the strategies combined. Strategic planning lays the foundation for the achievement of success by assisting the company to attain the goals and objectives of the firm. Therefore, the incorporation of ethics would ensure that the corporation enjoys lasting success. The primary function of corporate social responsibility in business is to ensure that the company fulfills the societal expectations from the enterprise (Singhapakdi, Vitell, Rallapalli & Kraft, 1996). Hence, it is only through the use of the three strategies combined can the firm effectively realize its objectives. References Inkpen, A. C., & Ramaswamy, K. (2006). purposely to language, literature, history and the art of the Native Americans who are believed to have occupied the western Hampshire (Thornton, 2016). The museum has three branches that include the George Gustav Heye Center, the National Museum of American Indian and the National Mall in Washington D.C. the permanent located in New York and the cultural resource center that is also a research facility in Suitland in Maryland (West, 2015). All the above facilities and services were housed under one roof in the national museum of Native American before they were relocated in different places to allow for the expansion of the premises all over America. This paper will look at the insight composition and historical background of the national museum of Native American and its benefits to the Indians and the American society as a whole. Background of the National Museum of the American Indian The United States Senator Daniel Inouye formed the National Museum of the American Indians following the motion in 1989, which resulted in the passage of the national museu7m of the American Indian Act. The Act was in response to the discovery of the native America that the Smithsonian institutions in America held over 18000 (Thornton, 2016). The Act resulted in the establishment of the National Museum of the American Indians, which was to act as the living memory of the tradition of the Native American in America. The Act among other things demanded the return of the illegally acquired objects and traditional regalia to returned to the community, and it demanded the repatriation of the tribes’ human remains, funerary, object regarded as culture patrimony among other to the tribe. Following the passage of the Act, Smithsonian has been able to surrender more than 5000 humans remains to the community, which is about one-third of the human remains in its custody. During the inaugural of the National Museum of the American Indian, the senator who introduced the motion addressed more than 20000 Native American, which is the

largest gathering ofthe citizens in American history. The law resulted in the merger of the Smithsonian Institution and the George Gustav Heye Center in the city of New York (Thornton, 2016). The Heye collection, which formerly displayed in the Audubon Terrace, was looking for its location until in the year 1990 when it became part of the Smithsonian institutions in America. The National Museum of the American Indian has several options to think of on where to be relocated ranging from the Ross Perot offered to be a house in the new museum house in Dallas, merging with the museum of national history or even transfer to the United States custom house. However, the Heye trust was another obstacle to the relocation of the facility, as the trust required that the movement of the collection should restrict to New York City and therefore the politicians from New York City opposed its relocation. The issue has delayed the relocation of the Heye collection to the National Museum of the American Indian (West, 2015). A compromised situation allows for consensus between those who want the groups to remain in New York City and those who want the collection to move to the rightful place in the National Museum of the Native American in Washington D.C. The museum was located in the Alexander Hamilton Customs House in the lower Manhattan before it opened its building in Washington D.C in 2005. The next move will be watched with many interests among the politicians and the Native Americans. National Mall The nationalmall located in Washington D.C, and it opened in September of 2004. The museum remains to be the only national museum that dedicated to the Native Americans in the United States (Green, 2016). The building housed in the 250000- square-foot curvilinear house that painted in golden color. The museum located on 4.25 acres that are rounded by a wetland. Like the Heyes in the lower Manhattan; the mall furnished with several exhibitions, film, and video screening, living culture presentations among other activities that relate to the culture and the tradition of the Native American (Shannon, 2014). The Canadian Douglas Cardinal designed the museum. Other companies developed the project, but during the construction of the building, Cardinal was ex-communicated by the original design remained his. In fact, believed that the building could be completed because of his input even after his excommunication from the project. The Native Americans run the building, and the design of the museum was done to be different from the European and the Euro-American culture. The landscape of the building is intended to meet the culture norms of the Native American (Shannon, 2014). According to the museum managing director, the museum was designed to be the trees, the water and the rock of the American society. The museum was intended to simplify the Native Americans. The Mitsitam Native Foods Cafe divided into Native regional sections such as the Northern Woodlands, South America, the Northwest Coast, Meso-America, and the Great Plains; the museum has published a Mitisam Cafe Cookbook. The organization opened the Museum of the American Indian to the public in 1922 at the Audubon Terrace and later closed in 1944 (Green, 2016). Part of the collections that were in the museum become part of the collections housed under the Gustav Heyes Center that occupy the two floors of the Alexander Hamilton Custom House. The house was designed by architect Cass Gilbert and completed in 1907. It intended to represent the landmark building that represents the Native Americans (Rushing III, 2013). The museum located on 1.3 acres that are rounded by a wetland. Just like the Heyes in the lower Manhattan, the mall is furnished with several exhibitions, film and video screening, living culture presentations among other activities that relate to the culture and the tradition of the Native American. Culture Resources Center The cultural resource center located in Maryland in the United States of America. The resource center is managed and operated by the National Museum of the American Indian. The collection housed in an enormous house, which is nautilus-shaped (Rushing III, 2013). The building houses many collections, a library and has the largest photo archive for the Native American tribes in America. The museum is believed to have a collection of more than 800000 objects and more than 125000 photographic images of the past people and events of the Native Americans. The groups divided into several categories that include the Amazon, California great basin, Arctic and subarctic and The Andes. The collections also include objects or rather collections that have been done recently groped under the contemporary collections that include Mesoamericans and the Northwest Coast. Most of the groups, which later became part of the Smithsonian, were collected through the efforts of one high man known George Gustav in early 1990 who traveled through America to collect the objects and the native paraphernalia housed in the National Museum of the Native American (Green, 2016). The collections in the museums are not subjected or rather protected by the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act but protected under the National Museum of the American Indian Act that provided the model under which the museums created. Apart from the Act, the museum management talks with the native tribes over the need to safeguard some of their heritage and cultural items that are of value to the native tribes (Rushing III, 2013). The collections are preserved under the custody of the several workers of the museum through several ways that are used to protect traditional objects among the Native Americans such as smudging and smoking. STR/581 STRATEGIC PLANNING& IMPLEMENTATION May 7, 2017 ALEJANDRO MEDINA Environmental Scan Environmental Scan refers to reviewing of external factors that affect a business. The main aim of this environmental scan is to identify and consult sources outside the firm. These sources are usually uncontrollable though critical in decision-making processes. The main idea behind this business is to allow the consumer to purchase products directly from the producer using the internet as a platform. The technological advancements have been the driving factor for online sales and marketing. For this to be successful, an environmental scan has to be in place throughout the formation and running of the business. The major environmental scan components that will apply to this particular business will include evaluating of the business’ external environment, assessing the company’s general situation and assess the organization's industry operating environment (Bakhru, 2015). When working in a very competitive industry, the short and long-term goals of the organization must be clearly defined and established during every step of the business. Specifically, the primary purpose of the firm would be to develop a niche market for itself and a unique product that will satisfy the needs of this niche market. For example, the company may choose to deal in fashion items and accessories hence the goal would be to establish a niche market for such products and their unique needs. However, for the company to achieve such a goal, it must create and implement a comprehensive strategy that will facilitate the target attainment. The plan may include advertising and

marketing techniques aimedat reaching the specific audience. For example, the use of social media and strategies such as the search engine optimization (SEO) may significantly help with the targeting of the particular niche market. With regards to evaluation, the same tools can be evaluated to establish their effectiveness in the attainment of the overall goal. That is, for social media and SEO, instruments such as Google analytics can significantly assist with determining the impact of the company’s online activities as far as the overall goal is concerned. Additionally, the way the actual business will implement will determine whether the firm will be successful in the long run (Rockville, 2015). For instance, the business must have an efficient website, which will be easy to access and use for the consumer. Therefore, the actual design of the online store has to be nicely done, with the principal features that support the actions of the user online. For example, the website must have an integrated payment system, including a shopping cart that calculates the shopper’s total purchases and supports credit card payments. Finally, the analysis is also important in the strategic management process as the business can gain valuable insights into this process. For example, different products can be analyzed to determine the product that will comprehensively address the needs of the selected niche. Additionally, the various wholesale companies can be pitted against each other to find out the ones with the best quality products at the most reasonable rates. At this step, the research on logistics such as shipping may help the company determine the most convenient method for getting the product from the wholesaler to the consumer upon purchasing. The ever-increasing competition in the industry will consequently lead to the company adopting an innovative strategy that will assist it in its efforts to remain on top of the game; this prompted us to do an environmental scan of the

company’s external environment. The competition pricing policy, their advertisement, products they offered, proximity to our startup company, customer service and customer feedback; this gave us a clear insight of the kind of competition to expect and the way to conduct our business with the best practices that will likely put us ahead of the game. Considering; the recent economic difficulties in the country, our analysis saw it fit to start on a small profit margin as we had earlier anticipated; this saw us taking a cut of the prices of products so as not to be kicked out of the business before we even start. We saw fit to have our own company’s website where the customers can check for the company’s details and products online so as to know what exactly to expect from the enterprise. Also, it was also evident that the growth of social media necessitated for the opening of Twitter and Facebook accounts so as to connect easily with people in the social media (Landry, 2016). The legal system of the central government and the local authorities both are applied to the local authorities’ issue out licenses and collect taxes whereas the national government has some rules that govern our interaction with the members of the public. Innovation is important in the industry as the business that fails to create new approaches and ideas to solve the common problems they face are in most cases left behind regarding competition. The business will, for this reason, sought to be a trendsetter in the industry to avoid the consequences that come with lack of innovation. New services will, therefore, be consistently created, in addition to the constant improvements made to the existing products and services offered by the business (Traylor, 2016). However, in cases where the competition appears to have the edge on new goods and services, the business will ensure it catches up by not only keeping up with the trends in the industry but also by adjusting the newly developed services and products to align them with
  • 20.
the company’s goalsand objectives. Specifically, the innovations tailored to the likes and preferences of the specific users of the website for online shopping. Both the external and internal environment of a company is crucial to the company’s success and is interrelated. The personal circumstances of a company have to be conducive for the employees and should be in hand with the legal requirements of the enterprise. The company will not produce cheap goods so that to sell products at lower prices to increase sells and do projects as this will be unethical. The company will not also engage in false advertising to attract more cell, and the external environment will always dictate our operations. The organization's industry operating environment consists of factors such as the bargaining power of suppliers; it, therefore, describes the capability power of buyers, the threat of substitute products or services, and the degree of rivalry among existing competitors. The suppliers bargaining power was fairly good thus this prompts goods of fair prices. The buyers found to like bargaining so much; this made us come with quite some strategies to try to ensure that our business won’t entirely run on losses. The degree of the rivalry was fairly good thus the company will cope fairly well with its competitors. In conclusion, the success of any business venture is based primarily on a thorough environmental scan, and the scan should be a continuous process carried not only at the start of the firm but also throughout the existence of the business. The ever-increasing competition in the industry will consequently lead to the company adopting an innovative strategy that will assist it in its efforts to remain on top of the communication. Innovation is important in the industry as the business that fails to create new approaches and ideas to solve the common problems they face are in most cases left behind regarding competition. The business will, for this reason, sought

to be atrendsetter in the industry to avoid the consequences that come with lack of innovation. New services will, therefore, be consistently created, in addition to the constant improvements made to the existing products and services offered by the business (Cassiman & Veugelers, 2006). However, in cases where the competition appears to have the edge on new goods and services, the business will ensure it catches up by not only keeping up with the trends in the industry but also by adjusting the newly developed services and products to align them with the company’s goals and objectives. Specifically, the innovations tailored to the likes and preferences of the specific users of the website for online shopping (Adner, 2006). Ethics and social responsibility are important when it comes to the development of a strategic plan for any business. That is, CSR influences the decisions made by the business, as the decision must consider the different stakeholders including the society. About ethics, it also plays a key role in the formulation of the plans of business as ethical principles regulate actions of the firm. Therefore, the business has to balance the moral and societal demands with its interests such as maximizing profits (Robin & Reidenbach, 1987). For example, when making plans for excavating raw material for producing the goods for business, the impact of this action on the environment must be assessed. Similarly, if the piece of the land is of other benefits to the community, for example, a recreational park, then moral values will come into play in this scenario; this will, in turn, determine how the company will go about with the entire process. In conclusion, the success of any business venture is based
