This document describes the STLOCUS method, an innovative 5-stage method for defining micro-spaces or "places" adapted to local action. The method was developed by researchers in Argentina to better understand places and incorporate the concept of place into territorial analysis, intelligence and development. Each of the 5 stages (territorialities and territories, vocations and "pre-places", rationalities/actors, place mapping, synthesis matrix) contributes to precisely defining places and their characteristics in a given territory. The goal is for the defined places to then be useful for various territorial projects, programs, and policies.
