The scene opens with a long shot of the protagonist curled
up on his bed looking scared. The camera slowly zooms into
him. It will play slow and unnerving non-diegetic music to
build tension.
It will then quickly zoom in close to him then back out to
where it left off on the previous shot. The non-diegetic music
will continue to play but as it zooms in quick there will be a
drum like non-diegetic sting.
The next shot continues to zoom slowly into the protagonists
scared face with the same non-diegetic music playing.
It will then quickly zoom in close to him again then out.
Again it will have the non-diegetic sting however instead of
continuing to slowly zoom in after, the camera will quickly
zoom into his face until the camera goes black.
Zooming out of darkness to flow smoothly with the last
shots, the title ‘Mental Murder’ will appear in a red font to
represent blood on a black background .The non-diegetic
music will become slow and mysterious so that it’s still
building tension but more mysterious then unnerving. It will
slowly fade into black.
Fading in the camera will be at a close up of the protagonists
feet. With the non-diegetic music continuing a piece of text
at the bottom saying ‘Directed by Arnold Bickers’ will
appear.
The camera will then cut to a close up shot of the feet
walking towards the kitchen with the words ‘Starring Iain
Cook and SamTrenter’ on the bottom of the screen. The
non-diegetic music will continue to play.
The next shot few shots will last a short amount of time
each. This shot will be a point of view shot of Ian grabbing a
bowl on the counter. A diegetic sound of the bowl hitting the
table will happen over the non-diegetic music
This will be another point of view shot, this time of Ian
pouring cereal into the bowl. The diegetic sound of the
cereal hitting the bowl will play over the non-diegetic music.
The next shot will be an over the shoulder shot again to
make it see from Ian’s perspective. This is a shot of Ian
pouring milk into the cereal. The non-diegetic music
continues with diegetic sound of the milk
An over the shoulder shot of Ian putting the knife into the
bowl instead of a spoon. The over the shoulder shot helps us
see the mistake he is making from his perspective. The non-
diegetic music continues
The camera starts under the table and tilts upwards
smoothly to reveal Ian sitting mixing the cereal. The pace of
the non-diegetic music will slow down at this point
This will be a mid shot of Ian picking up the knife to eat the
cereal. He pauses and examines the knife, puts it down and
backs away. The non-diegetic music will continue to play.
A close up of the knife on the table where Ian had just placed
it down. The non-diegetic music begins to get more tense.
The camera will zoom into the knife slowly.
It will then cut to an over the shoulder shot of him grabbing
the knife to match the shot earlier of him picking up the
knife.The non-diegetic music continues.
A close up of his pocket showing him putting the knife into
it.The non-diegetic music increasing in tension.
The next two shots, are quick shots. The first is a close up of
Ian’s feet. It will be a jump cut of him tying his shoes laces.
This will be instead of speeding it up.The non-diegetic music
will continue.
To follow in the pattern of close ups this shot will be another
close up of Ian putting his hat on.These 2 getting ready
shots will create a sense of normality.
The next shot will be another match on action of Ian exciting
a door, this time the front door. It will be a point of view shot
of Ian opening the door. The non-diegetic music continues.
This shot will be a reverse zoom of Ian exiting the house
which will not only show Ian leaving, but it will be an
establishing shot of the street he lives in.The non-diegetic
music will continue.
An over the shoulder shot of Ian walking down the street.
This shot will fade into the next shot. The non-diegetic music
will continue to play and build up.
A close up of Ian’s face as he stops moving and is scared of
what’s ahead.The non-diegetic music changes to powerful
aggressive music.
It cuts to an eye line match of a thug from Ian’s school. As
well as the non-diegetic music, there will be dialogue from
the thug saying “Where you off to then mate?” in an
aggressive voice
It then cuts to a zoomed out shot of the thug in a long shot.
The non-diegetic music continues to build in pace and we
the dialogue “school”
The penultimate shot is a mid shot of Ian holding the knife.
He goes in to stab the thug and we hear a diegetic cry of the
thug getting stabbed. The non-diegetic music gets louder.
The final shot of the 2 minuets is a shot of Ian running. It will
be a close up of his feet and he will be running away from
what he had just done. The non-diegetic music will continue
and the shot will fade out.
