1. One morning, the sun called all the planets for a
meeting. It wanted to introduce them and get to
know each other better…
SUN: Good morning, dear planets, I call you because I would like to introduce
yourselves. All of you go around me, as I am the centre of the Solar System. So,
who is the first one to speak?
MERCURY: I speak the first! I am Mercury, the Sun calls me Hugs, because I am
the only one who “hugs the Sun”. I take 88 days to go around the Sun because I
enjoy its heat!!
SUN: Yes, my second smallest one, that’s true! Who’s next?
VENUS: I am! I am the hottest one. My temperature goes up to 477ºC. I take 225
days to go round you, my dear sun.
SUN: That’s right! You are the most brilliant! Next?
EARTH: I am the Earth. I am the most special planet, because I carry lots and lots
of creatures. I also have a big moon for myself!
SUN: This is true, you are very special. Who is the next?
MARS: Me, me, me. I am Mars. I am the Red Planet, I am dry and cold. Brrrr… I am
not alone; I have small satellites that go around with me. It takes us 687 days to go
round.
SUN: I like your colour Mars, but you are very lazy. Who is the next, please?

2. SATURN: I am the Lord of the Rings! I am the biggest, I have got 49 moons, all of
them only for me, jejeje.
SUN: Quite a lot, my Lord! Who’s the next?
URANUS: Hello, all the planets. My name is Uranus. I am the “tired planet”,
because I go around the sun lying down; but I also have rings and 27 moons!
SUN: You are very patient because you take 84 years to go round me!!!! Next?
NEPTUNE: Good morning, I am Neptune, I am Uranus’ twin I am also very tired,
and I have got rings and moons too.
SUN: This is very curious… We have one more!
PLUTO: I am the smallest one, for this reason sometimes I am forgotten. I have got
a satellite that is as big as I am!!
SUN: Very good, my friends. Go back to your orbits and take care. I’ll give you light
and heat! Bye for now!
