This document summarizes research on the impacts of stereotypes on immigrant communities. The research involved conducting focus groups with high school students to understand the emotional and economic effects of stereotypes. Some common stereotypes identified were being lazy, criminals, or not caring about education. The findings showed that stereotypes cause pain and loss of hope for students of color. However, it also gives them strength to challenge stereotypes and prove them wrong. The students' stories demonstrated how stereotypes can lead to economic impacts like discrimination in policing, housing and employment.
