1. <br />Junior Varsity Baseball <br />Statement of Commitment and Compliance<br />Program Goals:<br />To learn the game of baseball and become better players.<br />To develop an understanding of what it means to be a positive and supportive teammate.<br />To promote personal growth through healthy competition.<br />To have fun.<br />Team Commitments:<br />I understand that I must follow the rules set forth in the Westwood Student Handbook. Any violation of the student handbook and/or these rules may result in removal from the team. The coach reserves the right to make this decision.<br />As a member of this team, I understand that I am also required to respect each member of this team and every aspect of this program. There will be no tolerance for disrespect of teammates, opponents, umpires, spectators, teachers, coaches, or equipment.<br />I understand that I am a student-athlete and that I am responsible for maintaining my grades during the baseball season and that all schoolwork takes priority over my participation in baseball. I understand that Coach McGunagle will accept a pass to practice from any teacher who has kept a student after school for extra help.<br />I understand that being a member of the junior varsity baseball team requires a substantial amount of time and energy. I am expected to be on time to practice. There are excused and unexcused absences from practices and games. A note must accompany any excused absence from any practice or game, and it must be from a parent or guardian. I understand that excused and unexcused absences may affect my playing time, given the sometimes short amount of time between games. Excessive issues with attendance and/or discipline may result in my removal from the team. I will let Coach McGunagle know in advance if I am going to be late or miss a practice or a game.<br />I am aware that practice times may vary, especially when the weather is uncooperative. Any changes to the practice schedule will be announced as far in advance as possible so personal adjustments can be made.<br />Part of my responsibilities as a member of the junior varsity team is to ensure that all equipment is in its proper place; this includes before, during, and after games and practices.<br />I understand that during games I will be focused on the game and supportive of my teammates.<br />I will give 100% effort at all times (practice and games).<br />I understand that Coach McGunagle will be available to discuss any baseball or non-baseball related items at appropriate times; this includes before, during, and after school. Open communication between all individuals involved with the team is an essential ingredient to the success of the baseball program.<br />If I do not have the proper equipment (cleats/sneakers, uniform/practice gear, hat, glove, etc.), I will not be playing that day (practice or games).<br />I will be dressed and ready to play BEFORE getting on the bus for every game.<br />I will make it my goal to improve individually as a player and to always support the interest of the team above all else. I will strive to be a positive role-model for my team, my school, and my community.<br />
