The document summarizes two strong prayers from Acts 4:23-31. It describes how the believers prayed for boldness to speak God's word despite threats. Their prayer was answered as they were filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke boldly. They also prayed for signs and wonders to be done through Jesus' name. In response, the place they were meeting was shaken as God granted more miracles through them.

Exodus 3:7-10 God said go, Moses said no. Moses excuses for why he could not do what God was telling him to do in leading the Israelites out of Egypt was in essence saying no to God.

This is a beginning message on why we must pray together more in our church and, I suspect, in most churches. It may be true that 90% of churches today do not have a church prayer meeting on their weekly calendars. 40 years ago 90% of churches probably did. We must return to our biblical roots as a people who pray together if we want to be ready to host a revival and sustain a revival in our fellowships and in our region. God is coming with global revival. Will we be ready? Corporate prayer will help us greatly to be ready.

2 Peter 3: Because some scriptures are hard to understand and some will force them to say things God never intended, Peter warns us to take care.

In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.

RECAP (WEEK 1)
18. Pastor Davey Blackburn’s 28-year-old wife,
Amanda, was shot and killed last November during
a home invasion in Indianapolis. She was also 12
weeks pregnant with the couple’s second child. The
story shocked churches around the nation, as
congregations rallied to support the young pastor in
such a devastating situation.
19. Now, with Larry Taylor, Jalen Watson and Diono
Gordon scheduled to appear in court May 10 for
Amanda Blackburn’s murder, Blackburn is speaking
out about the incident with his former pastor, Perry
Noble. He shares candidly about the emotions he
experiences when he wakes up every day and how
he’s come to realize that forgiveness isn’t an
emotion, but a choice.
20. “Everyday I have to wake up … and I have to
decide to forgive. And here’s why I decided to
decide to forgive: It’s because bitterness and
unforgiveness is going to be a cancer to no one
else except for me. And it’s going to eat me up
inside if I hang on to that.”
21. He told Noble that he realized that no one can be
sure what’s going to happen this side of eternity,
and that’s why his trust has to be in Jesus. He
shared, “[But] on the other side of eternity, Jesus is
going to restore and make all things bad completely
untrue, and so he’s going to take care of
vengeance, all I have to do is trust that he’s got all
this in control.”
22. Not only does Davey Blackburn trust Jesus to make
all things new, he hopes he gets the chance to
share the Gospel with the men who killed his wife
and child. “I know this sounds crazy, and I honestly
don’t know how I’m going to do it outside the grace
of God, but I really hope I get the opportunity to
share the gospel with these guys.”
Blackburn is the pastor of Resonate Church in
Indianapolis.
23. 6 So he said to me, “This is the word of the
Lord to Zerubbabel: ‘Not by might nor by
power, but by my Spirit,’ says the Lord
Almighty.
Zechariah 4:6
26. 30 Stretch out your hand to heal and perform
miraculous signs and wonders through
the name of your holy servant Jesus."
Acts 4:30
27. Your faith in God
should be big enough
to handle a “no” or
“not yet.”
28. 31 After they prayed, the place where they
were meeting was shaken. And they were
all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the
word of God boldly.
Acts 4:31
29. 27 Instead, God chose things the world
considers foolish in order to shame those
who think they are wise. And he chose
things that are powerless to shame those
who are powerful.
1 Corinthians 1:27 (NLT)
31. This story of Duane Miller’s healing is, well, almost
too miraculous to believe. Incredibly, though, it was
caught on an audio recording. As Pastor Matt Fry of
C3 Church in North Carolina explains in the
following video, Miller was a pastor in Texas who
got sick with something like the flu. This particular
flu was so severe that it attacked Miller’s vocal
cords and left him without much of a voice. Miller
was so desperate to recover his voice, he consulted
over 200 doctors, including 63 specialists. All to no
avail.
32. A year after losing his voice, Miller had to step down
from his position at his church and went through
great difficulty as he tried to find a different job he
could do without the use of his voice. Miller and his
family eventually ended up as members of a large
church in Houston.
33. One Sunday, a Bible study teacher wasn’t able to
teach due to sickness, and knowing Miller’s
background, the church asked him to teach the
class. Miller was hesitant at first, but eventually
agreed and was outfitted with a special microphone
that would be able to pick up whatever sound he
was able to produce. It just so happened that the
lesson queued up for that week was on Psalm
103—which speaks of the fact that God heals our
sin, but doesn’t always heal our physical bodies.
35. 31 But those who wait on the Lord; Shall
renew their strength; They shall mount up
with wings like eagles, They shall run and
not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.
Isaiah 40:31 (NKJV)
36. 32 All the believers were one in heart and
mind. No one claimed that any of his
possessions was his own, but they shared
everything they had. 33 With great power the
apostles continued to testify to the
resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and much
grace was upon them all.
Acts 4:32-35
37. 34 There were no needy persons among
them. For from time to time those who
owned lands or houses sold them, brought
the money from the sales 35 and put it at the
apostles' feet, and it was distributed to
anyone as he had need.
