This is part of the activity because when the students are going to make their skies they have to spread the stars out unevenly.

7. Background Information What star is nearest to the Earth? The Sun. So are stars hot? Stars are very hot and give off huge amounts of energy, in the form of heat and light. Do stars have color? Stars come in different colors. While hot stars give off blue light, cooler stars give off red light.
8. Star Activity Have the students take a piece of black construction (representing the night sky). Have them scatter dots of glue on their paper. (Make sure they place their dots in a scattered way and not evenly because stars are not evenly scattered in the sky). The students can also use the toothpicks provided for them to make stars smaller (representing further away).
9. Star Activity Cont. Have the students use the glitter and sprinkle the glitter over the glue on their paper. Have the students dump off the extra glitter. Allow the papers to dry. Once papers are done drying line all the papers together to form one big sky and see how the stars are all scattered unevenly.
