Every destination recognizes sports as a major contributor to the overall tourism economy. Oftentimes, it’s necessary to evaluate an event to truly prove the value in terms of overall destination benefits in addition to economic impact including: likelihood of future business, sponsorship potential inside and outside the community, media coverage and exposure, destination brand exposure, quantity and quality of event facilities needed, room rates, conflicting local events, bid fees as well as other considerations. In this session, the panelists will discuss aspects of event evaluation to explore for your event and/or your destinations!

Syracuse (3 year contract deal for The Desmond, 2400 room nights); NYAPT in
Saratoga (4 year contract deal for Hotel Albany, 2200 room nights per year, 4 board
meetings booked Hotel Albany and Hampton Inn DT), NYS Aviation Management
Association in Niagara Falls and BoucherCon in Cleveland, OH.
• Coordinated Volunteer Recognition event for 35 volunteers at The Joe with Tri-City
Valley Cats with tee shirts, awards, food and fellowship.
• Send out traffic advisories on behalf of Albany Traffic Engineering.
6. FILM COMMISSION
• UAlbany Initiative – SCREENS – An upstate New York film Venture, working with
UAlbany staff to coordinate May 3 event that features Craig Hatkoff with Tribeca Film
Festival -- Deb Goedeke featured panelist. Deb Goedeke will be part of the LOC for
the 2014 SCREENS that will be held at UAlbany.
• “The Challenger” - Wishing Well Pictures – coordinated sleeping rooms, 127 room
nights, and assisted with boxing shoot promotion at the TUC.
• HBO Movie – Muhammed Ali – worked with HBO on logistics for May10-11 shoot
and provided Albany resources to HBO; prepared press release for distribution and
will drop on May 9. Shooting in front of NYS Education Building, back of Court of
Appeals parking lot and bus terminal…500 sleeping rooms utilized, 70 local extras,
and other services will be utilized.
• Ballin in the Graveyard, documentary working with Keith Pickard, Spectrum Theatre
to garner national attention.

more activity on FB, Facebook posting Albany Film 3-4x per week. Twitter daily with
regard to filming and other Film Commission activities. FilmAlbany website and
Facebook completely revamped with ACCVB Marketing Dept.
• Joined Advisory Committee for New School of Radio & TV located in Albany.
• Ongoing promotions/outreach: UAlbany Initiative: SCREENS; Carey Center
Film Forum, Upstate Independents, Capital District Film Collaborative and
partnering with New York Production Alliance out of NYC with regard to
resources.
9. SPORTS FOUNDATION
• Planned NYSPHSAA Wrestling Reception, including site visit, coordination of
attendees, set-up, on-site assistance, and payment.
• Coordinated Bracket Breakfast invitations, sponsors, ticket sales, and administrative
work and on-site assistance for the event.
• Worked with Ed Lewi Associates & LCS&Z in preparation and follow-up for Scholar
Athlete Awards, including: distribution of sponsor invoices, collection and deposit of
sponsor payments, communications with Board of Directors to solicit additional
money, creation of Sports Foundation PayPal Account to collect attendee payment,
creation of EventBrite page to collect Board Payment.
• Updated www.albanynysports.com with new graphics, event info.
• Ongoing social networking efforts that include: Twitter, Facebook
