On a path of going-towards-God, our one-point aim, intention, dedication and faith are the only valuable companions, nothing else. No rituals, no fastings, no Puja-Path, nothing is as important as our intentions, our lofty emotions. We cannot ask for the worldly pleasures as well as have Divinity on our side. The two are equal and opposite forces, and each one of us keeps fighting with these totally divergent forces all the life. Alas, we give up zeal for materialistic accomplishments and passions and devote all-out in the other direction. In the bargain, we would be given all that is good for us in our life on this planet anyways. We stand to gain on both sides - external as well as internal, spiritual.
If our wish, deepest desire to merge with our ultimate source, from where we came in the first place, we no longer fear death of physical sheath, nor we fear death of astral or causal sheath; they get all merged into the soul, our real and ultimate reality, true existence. But this longing has to be so intense, so firm, that it can never waver by any material of this entire universe.
