In the upcoming year, 2016, the industry will see a significant capacity, capability and cost point shift in Data Center switching. The introduction of 25/100G supplementing the previous standard of 10/40G at the same cost points and power efficiency which represents a 250% increase in capacity for roughly the same capital costs is just one example of the scope of the change. These changes are occurring due to the introduction of new generations of ASICs leveraging improvements in semiconductor fabrication combined with innovative developments in network algorithms, SerDes capabilities and ASIC design approaches. This session will take a deep dive look at the technology changes enabling this shift and the architecture of the next generation nexus 9000 Data Center switches enabled due to these changes. 網際網路可稱為人類通信史上最耀眼的大突破,甚至有人說是第二次工業革命,在其發展初期無人能想像會造成今日的局面,當時由小規模的互連來解決資料傳送與連接問題,到如今已是無所不連無所不通的超大型互連世界網;回顧網際網路的發展,思科將其分為四波:第一波為電子郵件的基本網站;第二波為電子商務;第三波為現今狀態,以雲端社群媒體及影片為傳遞資訊;第四波為即將進入的物聯網。
物聯網的英文簡字為IOT (Internet Of Things)或IOE (Internet Of Everything),其最初觀念是把各種物品透過識別感測裝置與網際網路連接便於管理。而今物聯網的意義則在於各種器材,系統與服務之間的相互連接。由於具備聯網功能的物品其溝通極為快速,能做到測量監控及自動分析等過去無法做到的功能,實體物件經相連之後的交談也遠比人類快速且頻繁,如善加利用更有意想不到的效果。例如:去年八月以後星巴克將全美500部精品咖啡機連至網際網路,讓位於西雅圖的總部”咖啡小組”能夠追蹤那些烘焙方式最受歡迎,進而做最佳的管理及進料。
思科估計:從網際網路通信協定(即IP)位址傳送資料的潛力極大,預定到公元2020年將有500億的物件將具有相互連接的能力,這些超大的物件量需要更大的IP位址,現行的IPv4僅有32位元總容量不到63億,必須升級為具有128位元的IPv6才能應付,但由於IPv6和IPv4互不相容,網站的擁有者認為長久以來使用成習的IPv4目前仍為大多數業者所使用,而不願花錢立即升級至前途亮麗但仍是少數使用的新大陸,世界先進國家及我政府正努力推IP升級的工作,行政院在交通部及台灣網路資訊中心的協助下,成立網際網路通訊協定升級推動辦公室,呼籲現在採購網通設備者必須考慮具有IPv6功能,以免屆時無法使用。
台積電董事長張忠謀近日出席台灣半導體產業協會年會,明確指出:「下一個big thing為物聯網,將是未來五到十年內,成長最快速的產業,要好好掌握住機會。」而包括穿戴裝置、智慧家庭、智慧交通、智慧工廠、智慧能源與智慧城市都將搭乘著物聯網的翅膀起飛,不少供應鏈與整個生態系統已然逐漸成形。
張忠謀受邀台灣半導體產業協會,以「Next Big Thing」為題發表演說,一開始便從谷歌眼鏡為主,描述穿戴式科技產品所帶來的新應用,還有延伸出來的智慧家庭等相關產品所構成的「物聯網」(IoT, Internet of Things),可能就是下一個大趨勢。
根據國際研調機構顧能(Gartner)預測,到2020年時,全球將有260億台物聯網裝置,是2009年(9億台)的30倍,在機器串連機器(M to M)更蓬勃發展下,不僅將衝擊現有的供應鏈,也可能顛覆許多產業傳統的運作模式,並能夠衍生出更多新服務。
物聯網以前談了許久,但總是見樹不見林,近幾年隨著全球各大廠的積極投入,世界各地的物聯網應用已經愈來愈多,不僅觸及各領域,也有許多深化的應用,再加上4G LTE高速飆網時代即將來臨,Big Data分析也普遍受到重視,終端裝置網網相連機會變多之下,搜集更多資料成為各產業邁向新成長的首要任務。
物聯網儼然將成為科技產業新顯學,台積電董事長張忠謀更不諱言,未來掌控物聯網的主角,可能是谷歌、亞馬遜、蘋果或阿里巴巴,不會是半導體公司,但物聯網應用需要大量半導體與IC設計業者當作背後奧援的軍火商。
Gartner副總裁Michael Burkettd日前也舉例指出,物聯網為什麼重要,是因為未來會有更多裝置與設備,能夠即時向雲端網路系統回報狀態,透過感測器蒐集大量資料,快速分析後,產生智慧反應,回饋給機器作下一步動作。
他認為,相關供應鏈必須從現在開始留意未來潛力。目前像有些物聯網應用例如商用車載資通訊系統已應用於卡車上以提升物流效率;有些技術正在崛起,比方智慧織品運用衣物或工業布料內的感測器,還能監控人體健康。
