Child soldiers are defined as those under 18 years of age who are involved in armed forces, whether regular or irregular. Approximately 250,000 child soldiers exist worldwide, with 30% being girls who are often used for sexual purposes or marriage. While some join voluntarily to support their families, most are forced through drugging and addiction. After escaping war, efforts must be made to help child soldiers find jobs or education, as merely escaping is not enough without support for their future. NGOs and NPOs work on issues related to child soldiers, child marriage, child labor, and their root causes like poverty, religion, and abuse. Creative ideas are needed to address how these issues interconnect and can be solved holistically.
