Mental health has been in the news quite a bit lately. Dozens of U.S. states are currently suing Meta for contributing to the youth mental health crisis by inserting addictive features into their products, while the U.S. Surgeon General is touring the nation to bring awareness to the growing epidemic of loneliness and isolation. The country has endured periods of low national morale, such as in the 1970s when high inflation and the energy crisis worsened public sentiment following the Vietnam War. The current mood, however, feels different. Gallup recently reported that national mental health is at an all-time low, with few bright spots to lift spirits.
To better understand how Americans are feeling and their attitudes towards mental health in general, ThinkNow conducted a nationally representative quantitative survey of 1,500 respondents and found some interesting differences among ethnic, age and gender groups.
Technology
For example, 52% agree that technology and social media have a negative impact on mental health, but when broken out by race, 61% of Whites felt technology had a negative effect, and only 48% of Hispanics thought it did.
While technology has helped us keep in touch with friends and family in faraway places, it appears to have degraded our ability to connect in person. Staying connected online is a double-edged sword since the same news feed that brings us pictures of the grandkids and fluffy kittens also feeds us news about the wars in Israel and Ukraine, the dysfunction in Washington, the latest mass shooting and the climate crisis.
Hispanics may have a built-in defense against the isolation technology breeds, owing to their large, multigenerational households, strong social support systems, and tendency to use social media to stay connected with relatives abroad.
Age and Gender
When asked how individuals rate their mental health, men rate it higher than women by 11 percentage points, and Baby Boomers rank it highest at 83%, saying it’s good or excellent vs. 57% of Gen Z saying the same.
Gen Z spends the most amount of time on social media, so the notion that social media negatively affects mental health appears to be correlated. Unfortunately, Gen Z is also the generation that’s least comfortable discussing mental health concerns with healthcare professionals. Only 40% of them state they’re comfortable discussing their issues with a professional compared to 60% of Millennials and 65% of Boomers.
Race Affects Attitudes
As seen in previous research conducted by ThinkNow, Asian Americans lag other groups when it comes to awareness of mental health issues. Twenty-four percent of Asian Americans believe that having a mental health issue is a sign of weakness compared to the 16% average for all groups. Asians are also considerably less likely to be aware of mental health services in their communities (42% vs. 55%) and most likely to seek out information on social media (51% vs. 35%).

✅What is C++ Programming?
C++ is an enhanced and extended version of C programming language, developed by Bjarne Stroustrup in 1979 as part of his Ph.D. project. Bjarne developed what he called ‘C with Classes’ (later renamed C++) because he felt limited by the existing programming languages that were not ideal for large scale projects. He used C to build what he wanted because C was already a general-purpose language that was efficient and fast in its operations.

Depuis 2001 : Simone MAHLER est une filiale du groupe SOTHYS International, leader de la cosmétique professionnelle. SOTHYS = 56 M€/an 65% du CA à l'exportation dans 105 pays SOTHYS est également une entreprise familiale… la saga continue!
Nous positionnons clairement la marque sur le segment clinique, dermocosmétique : Pas de glamour, mais des résultats visibles (formules pas trop longues, mais fortement concentrées en actifs testés in vitro. Protocole d’analyse de peau, renforcement efficacité par soin cabine fait avec équipement ultrasons/microcourants) Fort respect de tolérance cutanée (qualité galénique formules + tous nouveaux produits testés sous contrôle dermatologique (1er : Derma-S. SM est née le 11/02/1911 à Plombières les Bains (Vosges) Ainée d’une famille de 2 enfants, elle poursuit des études de médecine puis d’esthétique En 1931, elle épouse Marcel AMSTUTZ, ingénieur chimiste De cette union naîtront 4 enfants, 3 garçons et 1 fille. A la veille de la 2nde guerre mondiale, la famille AMSTUTZ-MAHLER déménage dans le sud-ouest de la France, à Bagnières de Bigorre (Htes Pyrénées)
Après la 2nde guerre mondiale, Simone MAHLER décide de profiter de la conjoncture (liesse de l’après-guerre…) pour mettre à profit ses connaissances (en médecine et en esthétique) et celles de son époux (en chimie) au service de la Beauté des Femmes
Ne trouvant pas sur le marché des produits répondant aux préoccupations des femmes, elle décide de fabriquer ses propres produits qui, de part sa formation, s’avèrent plus proches de « médicaments » que des cosmétiques de l’époque
Certains produits font toujours parti de la gamme S. MAHLER et demeurent, encore aujourd'hui, parmi nos meilleures ventes (Gelée Satin, Tonic Bleu, Masques n°9)
Très rapidement, devant les résultats obtenus, de nombreuses esthéticiennes souhaitent acquérir ses méthodes et diffuser ses produits Certaines souhaitent rester salariées d’ instituts appartenant à S. MAHLER, ce sont les esthéticiennes des « succursales » Simone MAHLER qui s’ouvrent aux 4 coins de l’ hexagone. D’autres souhaitent voler de leurs propres ailes et s’installer : c’est le début de la Franchise en France, avant même que le concept n’existe !
Le 19 février 1964, Simone MAHLER décède d’une leucémie Son mari la suit 6 mois plus tard Mais la succession est assurée ! 2 fils prennent la direction de l’entreprise familiale Daniel AMSTUTZ MAHLER, chimiste de formation, à la Direction Technique basée à Bordeaux Benjamin AMSTUTZ MAHLER, commercial de formation, à la Direction Commerciale France et Internationale Et l’essor de la Société continue En 1973, BAM est élu le 1er Président de la FFF.
Elaboration d'un nouveau produit : J – 18 mois (Crème Prestigieuse : J-24 !) C'est cela aussi qui fait la force de SM… Car si la Franchise se développe ainsi, c'est aussi (et surtout) grâce à son image de sérieux et de résultats…
Ouverture en janvier 2005 Normes ISO 9001 (garantie de sécurité car procès de fabrication quasi-identiques à ceux de la pharmacie…)
Ouverture en 2003 1,3 millions de colis / an
2 instituts pilotes… Emplacements prestigieux… Même agencement, comme dans tous les instituts franchisés… S. MAHLER = avant tout : UNE APPROCHE PERSONNALISEE DE LA BEAUTE Grâce à une méthode de prise en charge globale de la cliente (SM, précurseur de l' OdB) Pour répondre au mieux à ses attentes et lui délivrer les résultats souhaités Image de sérieux et d' efficacité obtenue non seulement par les produits SM, mais aussi par la technicité des soins et des équipements spécifiques mis à la disposition des esthéticiennes SM
Dès 1971, ouverture à Paris du Centre de Formation Simone MAHLER : le C.I.P.E.R. Centre d’ Information Professionnelle d’ Esthétique et de Recyclage Le centre reçoit des personnes du monde entier (Maroc, Corée…) qui vont ensuite distribuer les produits et les soins dans leurs pays respectifs Dans ce centre prestigieux (500m2 sur 3 niveaux avec une partie internat) la formation dure entre 4 semaines et 9 mois selon le l’âge et les objectifs des élèves. Aujourd'hui, toujours le même sérieux dans 2 cadres prestigieux : Paris (centre de Formation du Groupe) et Bdx. Formation réservée aux esthéticiennes des instituts SM Formation initiale = Atelier Découverte (2 semaines de 6 jours… ) + formations complémentaires (vente, nouveautés…) + Atelier de Perfectionnement (3 jours)
Pour diffuser ses produits, elle ouvre son 1er institut à Bagnières de Bigorre en 1946 dans lequel travaillent des esthéticiennes formées à ses méthodes. Car non seulement elle formule et élabore ses produits, mais également des méthodes qui lui sont propres et qui donnent à ses produits toute leur efficacité. Ce sont ces mêmes méthodes de base (modelage visage) qui sont appliquées aujourd’hui et toujours tant appréciées.

Pour son développement à l'international, S. MAHLER s'appuie sur : Le réseau local de distribution SOTHYS à l'export pour permettre la diffusion des pdts SM (comme en Italie, en Espagne) Un développement parallèle (comme au Japon ou en Corée) grâce aux : Salons professionnels internationaux type COSMOPROF Site internet Partout à travers le monde, on retrouve la même image et le même qualité des soins Les esthéticiennes SM des 4 coins du monde reçoivent le même formation que les esthéticiennes françaises De tout temps, la formation a toujours été le point fort de la marque SM…
