This document provides an overview of SpriteKit in 3 sentences:
SpriteKit allows developers to create 2D games and applications with scenes, nodes, actions, physics, and more. It includes classes like SKScene for scenes, SKSpriteNode for sprites, SKShapeNode for shapes, SKEmitterNode for particle effects, and SKPhysicsBody to apply physics. The document outlines how to set up a SpriteKit view, add sprites and other nodes to scenes, apply actions and physics, and more.
SpriteKit is Apple's own game framework that came out with iOS7. It arguably does a number of things better than the rest of the 2D game frameworks out there and here they are.
This talk is a quick grasp of two WWDC 2013 talks that refer to Sprite Kit. A demonstration sample game is included at the end of the talk; you can find the source code here (https://github.com/teaualune/sk-shootduck).

Keeping Track of Moving Things: MapKit and CoreLocation in DepthGeoffrey Goetz
Adding a Map to an App and recording a User’s location as they use the App has become a common must have feature in may of todays popular applications. This presentation will go over the APIs for accomplishing such tasks including map annotations, dragging and dropping custom pins as well as delve into some of the finer aspects of the required location based calculations one needs to consider to find the center of the map or the distance between two points. Additionally the presentation will go over techniques to update a MapView with a moving object as well as positioning the image for the object properly along its heading. This will be a straight forward hands on development presentation with plenty of code examples.

Visual Component Testing -- w/ Gil Tayar (Applitools) and Gleb Bahmutov (Cyp...Applitools
Full Webinar recording:
Functional and visual testing work very well together for end-to-end frontend tests.
In this hands-on session, Gleb Bahmutov (VP Engineering @ Cypress) and Gil Tayar (Sr. Architect @ Applitools) showed how to apply the same approach to the individual components -- the building blocks of modern web apps.
Component testing ensures a thorough validation of all our components' variants such as different inputs and states, edge-case network responses, and responsive widths.
Gleb and Gil used Cypress to drive the tests and check them functionally, while integrating the Applitools plugin to provide us with the capability to quickly and easily test them visually across all browsers and response widths.
Watch this on-demand webinar to see the full power of the functional and visual component tests ability to speed up the development cycle.

Kubernetes & AI - Beauty and the Beast !?! @KCD Istanbul 2024Tobias Schneck
As AI technology is pushing into IT I was wondering myself, as an “infrastructure container kubernetes guy”, how get this fancy AI technology get managed from an infrastructure operational view? Is it possible to apply our lovely cloud native principals as well? What benefit’s both technologies could bring to each other?
Let me take this questions and provide you a short journey through existing deployment models and use cases for AI software. On practical examples, we discuss what cloud/on-premise strategy we may need for applying it to our own infrastructure to get it to work from an enterprise perspective. I want to give an overview about infrastructure requirements and technologies, what could be beneficial or limiting your AI use cases in an enterprise environment. An interactive Demo will give you some insides, what approaches I got already working for real.
Neuro-symbolic is not enough, we need neuro-*semantic*Frank van Harmelen
Neuro-symbolic (NeSy) AI is on the rise. However, simply machine learning on just any symbolic structure is not sufficient to really harvest the gains of NeSy. These will only be gained when the symbolic structures have an actual semantics. I give an operational definition of semantics as “predictable inference”.
All of this illustrated with link prediction over knowledge graphs, but the argument is general.
"Impact of front-end architecture on development cost", Viktor TurskyiFwdays
I have heard many times that architecture is not important for the front-end. Also, many times I have seen how developers implement features on the front-end just following the standard rules for a framework and think that this is enough to successfully launch the project, and then the project fails. How to prevent this and what approach to choose? I have launched dozens of complex projects and during the talk we will analyze which approaches have worked for me and which have not.
