The new second edition of Practical Object-Oriented Design With UML provides
a concise introduction to the design of object-oriented programs using UML.
The book emphasizes the connections between the UML design notations and
object-oriented programs. It provides a complete example of object-oriented
development using UML, starting with a statement of requirements and
finishing with complete executable code. The book also contains a detailed
tutorial introduction to the most important UML notations.
This book provides the ideal introduction to UML for undergraduates taking
modules in object-oriented techniques as part of a computer science or
software engineering degree programme.
Key Features include:
● New coverage of the software development process: a new chapter in
this edition includes an explicit discussion of some issues in the development
of software processes and provides an outline sketch of the Unified Process.
● New case study material: to demonstrate the practical application of
UML; this edition features a new case study about a restaurant booking
system. Based on the structure of a single iteration of the Unified Process,
the case study provides an extended example to help students appreciate
the practical use of UML and explore its application in a realistic business
context.
● Updated reference material: this new edition contains a reference section
covering UML notation, the syntax of OCL, and recommended templates
for writing use case descriptions.
● Support for learning: each chapter includes a summary of key points and
a set of exercises to help reinforce the material covered. To help self-study,
solutions to the exercises will be available to students.

In this beginner session, we dive into OutSystems recommended best practices for developing a Forge component in O11. Explore the provided references and guidelines, witness the creation of a small component for currency formatting, and learn how to adhere to best practices. By the end of this session, you'll gain a clear understanding of building reliable and stable OutSystems Forge components.
ODSC webinar "Kubeflow, MLFlow and Beyond — augmenting ML delivery" Stepan Pu...Provectus
What's a machine learning workflow? What open source tools can you use to automate ML workflow?
Reproducible ML pipelines in research and production with monitoring insights from live inference clusters could enable and accelerate the delivery of AI solutions for enterprises. There is a growing ecosystem of tools that augment researchers and machine learning engineers in their day to day operations.
Still, there are big gaps in the machine learning workflow when it comes to training dataset versioning, training performance and metadata tracking, integration testing, inferencing quality monitoring, bias detection, concept drift detection and other aspects that prevent the adoption of AI in organizations of all sizes.
The Microsoft MVC Dot Net is an structural design that distinguishes a software into three main sensible components: the design, the perspective, and the operator.
Single Page Applications in SharePoint with AngularSparkhound Inc.
The Angular framework allows developers to create lightweight single page web applications with ease. By leveraging the Angular framework and the SharePoint 2013 REST API, we can create lightweight applications within SharePoint as alternatives to InfoPath forms and OOTB SharePoint web parts. This presentation will cover the basics of single page applications with Angular as well as targeting the SharePoint platform with SPA applications.
[DSC Europe 22] Reproducibility and Versioning of ML Systems - Spela PoklukarDataScienceConferenc1
Reproducibility of ML system is increasingly important topic in ML community. Reproducibility ensures conclusiveness of the model performance, provides an understanding how ML system works and reduces unnecessary errors when the system is deployed into production. With increasing AI regulation, it will soon become a requirement for many ML applications. In this talk, we will explore different aspects of reproducibility such as reproducibility of the dataset, data processing, ML model, its randomness and hyperparameters, code and SW environment, as well as concepts and practical tools such as data versioning, feature, metadata and artifact store, model registry and containerization that together ensure reproducibility of our experiments.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.
A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
