Andrew Motion, the former Poet Laureate of the UK, wrote a poem in 2005 commemorating the marriage of Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles. The poem alludes to the difficulties of their relationship by saying the heart "slips and sidles like a stream" but eventually "Breaks loose to revel in its proper course." Motion was appointed Poet Laureate in 1999 and was responsible for producing poems about events of national significance in Britain. He had his first book of poetry published at age 24 and later wrote a biography of poet Philip Larkin, who he met while teaching at Hull University.
