8. Some Commentators:
The context is a reprimand about
submitting to God in the midst of
nations warring against God. The
1599 Geneva Study Bible's
comments on verse 10 say that God
is warning those "who persecute the
Church to cease their cruelty: for also
they will feel that God is too strong
for them against whom they fight."

9. Some Commentators:
Another commentary renders the literal
meaning of verse 10 as: "Leave off to
oppose Me and vex My people. I am
over all for their safety." This is a
warning from God to His enemies
(Robert Jamieson, A. R. Fausset and
David Brown, Commentary Critical and
Explanatory on the Whole
Bible (1871).

Why make so much about one
verse being interpreted wrong?
It shows a pattern, its not the only
verse. And, it’s a verse that has
had a long history of abuse.

12. Eckhart is not saying that we should be
weak and negative and torpid (he was
none of those things himself). The
eternal birth takes place in the depths
of the self, of the soul, beyond our
senses, and he is saying that with
God’s help we should acquire the
capacity to inwardly empty the mind of
all sense experience, of all that takes
us out of ourselves. Circa 13th

13. Many people quote the first part of Ps.
46:10, "Be still and know that I am
God," to endorse a form of meditation
that involves techniques on "quieting"
the mind or going beyond the mind.
They use the verse to convince
people that you need to “empty” your
mind to hear God’s voice.

16. Listen to these instructions:
To meditate, it means that we do not get carried
away by our random thoughts. We want to reach a
point of calmness that feels as if our mind is empty of
thought. You have to learn to hold this state of mind for
at least 5 minutes. Start by staying in your empty
space for one minute. When you feel like you can hold
this concentration for a minute with ease, hold it for
three, then five minutes. Eventually, in this empty
space, you will be able to meet your spirit guide,
communicate with deceased loved ones, or receive
messages from any kind of good spirit that comes
from the light.

Scriptures is to quietly repeat them, giving
oneself entirely to God, and abandoning
outside distractions. The two main things
that we are told to meditate on are God's
word and God's goodness. Paul tells us,
‘Whatever is true, whatever is honorable,
whatever is just, whatever is pure,
whatever is lovely, whatever is
commendable, if there is any excellence, if
there is anything worthy of praise, think
about these things’ (Philippians 4:8)
