Pride might not be very obvious at the beginning but can grow to destroy. The fruit of the Spirit is an important ingredient in helping one get rid of pride.
This document discusses the assurance of forgiveness according to the Bible. It states that when we confess our sins to God, we enter into light rather than remaining in darkness. It outlines the process of forgiveness, noting that God promises to completely wipe out and forget our sins forever when we confess. However, it warns that intentionally repeating sins or failing to forgive others can remove this assurance. The devil's strategy is to make us feel unworthy and misuse God's forgiveness, but we can overcome this by confessing our sins to God.
How to destroy relationships use anger to get what you want pptJules Burundi
The document provides guidance on dealing with anger in relationships. It begins by quoting a Bible passage instructing believers to be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to anger. It then discusses the destructive nature of anger, defining different types of anger and sins related to anger like frustration, resentment, and bitterness. The document advises recognizing anger is usually sinful, confessing it, learning to trust God's sovereignty, and choosing love. It concludes by reminding readers that anger arises from pride and a clash between desires and God's design, and true righteousness comes through humility rather than anger.
This document discusses strategies for enduring cycles and achieving promises from God. It outlines 10 movements a person may go through: conception of a promise, grace, trial, conforming, flow, attack, backsliding, being stuck in cycles, waiting, and reaching a miracle or promise. Key points are made about the purpose of each phase and how to respond. Antidotes to afflictions like lack and temptation are listed. The goal is to progress from a state of vexation or burnout to one of flow and receiving what was promised from God.
The document provides an introduction to a series of readings aimed at helping those who have lost their jobs. It discusses the difficult emotions that can arise from unemployment like hopelessness, frustration, and depression. It encourages engaging with the biblical passages and questions included in each reading to gain practical encouragement and clarity. The first reading focuses on dealing with feeling overwhelmed and reflects on Psalm 25. It includes questions for personal reflection and tips for reevaluating one's strengths, interests, and goals.
1) The document discusses how failure is inevitable but Christians can overcome it through God's grace and by learning from mistakes.
2) It outlines mature attitudes towards failure, such as acknowledging mistakes, learning from them, and moving forward with God's help.
3) The conclusion emphasizes that while believers may fail God, God will never fail his people. Failure can strengthen faith and drive us closer to relying on God's mercy and grace.

The document discusses facing giants and having faith in God. It notes that when giants show up, it allows one to grow and gives the opportunity to glorify God. It defines faith as belief plus doubt, acting on the belief. Facing giants in the will of God means the giants are also opposing God. Having faith means trusting what God has said.

Chapter 8 of Renovation of the Heart ClassCarlin Trammel
This document summarizes key points from Chapter 8 of Renovation of the Heart: Putting on the Character of Christ by Dallas Willard. It discusses:
1. Willard equates the will/heart/spirit with the executive center that directs the whole person. Character develops from thoughts, feelings, and choices of the will over time.
2. The will can be transformed by interacting with thoughts and feelings from God's word and spirit. A transformed will looks like single-minded devotion to God and his will.
3. The will gives humans their dignity and worth, though it can become "splintered" and turn against itself when separated from God. Spiritual disciplines can help reveal
This document discusses five missionary virtues - simplicity, gentleness, humility, mortification, and zeal. For each virtue, it provides a brief definition or quote about the virtue from a source like Praying with Vincent de Paul. It then poses reflective questions to help the reader assess their own practice of that virtue. The document also provides lists of potential signs of growth and signs where further growth is needed in each virtue to aid self-reflection.
Thoughts helpful in the life of the soul from Book I – The Imitation of Christ.
So long as we live in this world we cannot escape suffering and temptation. Everyone, therefore, must guard against temptation and must watch in prayer lest the devil, who never sleeps but goes about seeking whom he may devour, find occasion to deceive him.
Yet temptations, though troublesome and severe, are often useful to a man, for in them he is humbled, purified, and instructed. Man is never safe from them as long as he lives, for they come from within us—in sin we were born.
We often base our worth using this equation: Self-worth = My Performance + Other's Opinions. Instead of basing our worth on God, we base it on ourselves. In this study, we look at the fear of failure or the performance trap.

This document discusses each of the seven deadly sins: pride, envy, gluttony, lust, anger, greed, and sloth. It provides details on what each sin entails and examples from the Bible that explain why each sin is considered deadly and should be avoided. The document emphasizes that these sins stem from selfishness and a lack of self-control, and if allowed to continue, will lead to spiritual death by removing a person from God's will.
Overcoming Discouragement provides keys to overcoming discouragement through application rather than just mental assent. It discusses recognizing and changing negative self-talk, relying on God and welcoming the Holy Spirit for strength, spending time with encouraging Christian communities, and setting goals to develop vision and bring out your potential.
This document outlines five steps to excellence: 1) Stand fast in faith, 2) Be brave, 3) Strive each day, 4) Do it all with love, 5) Enemy of excellence is mediocrity. It discusses developing spiritual intelligence through God's guidance, having courage to face challenges, continuously improving through effort, performing all actions with love rather than personal glory, and avoiding a mediocre mindset of low quality work. The pursuit of excellence should be motivated to give one's best to God, not a desire for superiority.

The document outlines the five virtues of St. Vincent De Paul: simplicity, humility, meekness, mortification, and zeal for souls. It provides descriptions of each virtue. Simplicity means transparency, honesty and purity of intention. Humility is respecting others and not being self-centered. Meekness is controlling anger and enduring hardship patiently. Mortification involves disciplining desires and passions. Zeal for souls means being eager and resourceful in serving and loving God and others.
I’m sure you have said things like:
“I am frustrated!”
“I am angry!”
“I am anxious!”
But I bet you’ve never said, “I am going to let demons tell me how to feel today.”
Here is an eye-opener–every time you connect the identity of a demon to God’s name of “I AM” you are giving them easy access to your mind, will, and emotions, aka your soul.
Overcoming Strongholds is another struggle Christians go through as they are entangled to the pleasures of the world. Satan brings lies about themselves, about others and about God. Believeing these lies create a stronghold and reinforcing the lie leads them away from God. Real freedom includes overcoming the strongholds in our spiritual life. Be Blessed!
A short talk about the self; dealing with the issues of self esteem, feeling, and values such as courage, confidence and motivation. The talk deals most on in spite of whatever reality there is in a individual’s experiences and background, God can still use them in His awesome plan.
This document discusses spiritual warfare and the consequences of sinning. It notes that sin can lead to emptiness, emotional pain, bitterness, shipwrecking one's faith, and giving Satan a foothold. While we know sin has consequences, we justify it through lies, rationalizations, and pride. The document encourages praying for God to reveal our pride, confessing sins of pride to God, reflecting on how pride affects relationships, and humbling ourselves before God to overcome justification of sin.

The document discusses the process of enduring trials to receive promises from God. It explains that there are 10 movements or stages one goes through: conception of the promise, trial, grace, conforming, flow, being trapped, backsliding, struggling, waiting, and receiving a miracle. It provides strategies for enduring each stage, such as not changing direction during trials and leaning into grace. The overall goal is to experience God's rest and flow by believing promises despite afflictions and cycles of struggle.

Responding to negative emotions or feelings in a Biblical way. Intended to be accompanied with verbal presentation, but still comprehensible. A sketch of a prelude to good Mental Health.
This document discusses worry and its effects. It defines worry as mental distress or agitation and traces the word back to its Old English origin meaning "to strangle or choke." It outlines the physical effects of worry such as increased heart rate, upset stomach, and sleep problems. Spiritually, worry can corrupt one's testimony by leading to mental and physical disorders. The document encourages bringing thoughts into obedience to Christ and cultivating dependence on God to experience perfect peace.
This document discusses purity and maintaining purity in various areas of life. It addresses purity in one's thoughts, words, actions, manners, motives and message. Some key points made include that purity involves both outward morality and inward sincerity before God. True purity begins with acknowledging sins to God. One must also maintain purity in their thought life by focusing on godly things rather than worldly entertainment. Purity of words and motives are also discussed, emphasizing speaking truthfully and ministering to please God rather than people. The document encourages maintaining faith in God during difficulties and living in a way that glorifies Him.
The document discusses ways to strengthen faith through repentance. It defines repentance as recognizing sin, having remorse for sin, resolving to change, reforming behavior, and making restitution. Real repentance requires faith that Jesus can change, forgive, and help avoid mistakes. Strengthening faith involves regularly reading and applying the Bible to deepen one's relationship with God, as fellowship with Christ increases through strengthened faith. The document provides seven ways to strengthen faith, such as reading the Bible, praying, fasting, and uniting with other believers.
This document is a Bible study lesson about letting one's heart be broken for others. It discusses avoiding superficial responses to spiritual problems. The lesson is based on Jeremiah 8:4-13, 18-9:1 and contains the following key points:
1. The lesson examines how spiritual leaders were failing by rejecting God's word and acting dishonestly for profit.
2. It explores how people today try to treat spiritual brokenness with superficial solutions instead of the real solution, which is mentioned as turning to God for grace.
3. Spiritual leaders were wrong to reassure people without peace with empty words, and the lesson urges reaching out to help those hurt by false spiritual leaders.
This document discusses spiritual warfare and how giving Satan a foothold can lead to negative consequences like pain, emptiness, bitterness, and shipwrecking your faith. It says when we are in a creative phase we need to know God's word to avoid failure. Things like trauma, uncontrolled emotions, and broken relationships can give Satan access to influence us. It recommends admitting you have a problem, recognizing emotions come from being apart from God, reducing choices to avoid overload, and finding help from others through ministry.
The passage discusses Jesus' Beatitudes from the Sermon on the Mount. It describes those who are blessed as being humble and dependent on God, patiently submitting to his will. Specifically, it says the kingdom of heaven belongs to those who are poor in spirit, meek, and pure in heart. It contrasts this with those who prioritize rules and externals over internal godliness and grace.

This document contains teaching notes on fickle feelings by Joyce Meyer. Some key points:
1) Emotions are often the believer's number one enemy as the devil uses feelings to deceive us. Feelings change frequently and should not dictate decisions or beliefs.
2) Spiritual maturity involves living beyond feelings and not being "tossed to and fro" by them. Mature believers know what they believe is not swayed by experiences or lack of certain feelings.
3) Believers must serve the God of the Bible, not their feelings. Many never experience God's love, presence, gifts, purpose, because they live by feelings rather than faith in scripture. Feelings should not replace biblical truths
Faith is a muscle that must be exercised. If you don’t use it, you lose it! When you do not operate in faith you are subject to the attack of satan. You must understand that warfare is in your mind (between your ears). Be careful of opening your body up to demonic imitation: The devil gets in through sin/disobedience. The devils aim is to attack your mind, so you must be mindful of how you guard your thoughts.
The document discusses overcoming shame and fear of failure through finding one's self-worth in God rather than in performance or others' opinions. It provides biblical support for the idea that Christians are forgiven, accepted and loved unconditionally by God. False beliefs about needing approval and deserving punishment can lead to shame, but Scripture teaches that through faith in Christ, believers are made righteous, forgiven of all sin, and will not face condemnation.
The document provides guidance on knowing yourself through various self-reflection activities. It discusses identifying key attributes, values, roles, goals, strengths, and stress triggers. Additionally, it covers understanding one's behavioral profile and using frameworks like DESIGN and the Passion Test to explore life purpose and work preferences. The overall goal is to develop a healthy self-concept through biblical meditation on who we are in God.

A375 Example Taste the taste of the Lord, the taste of the Lord The taste of...franktsao4
It seems that current missionary work requires spending a lot of money, preparing a lot of materials, and traveling to far away places, so that it feels like missionary work. But what was the result they brought back? It's just a lot of photos of activities, fun eating, drinking and some playing games. And then we have to do the same thing next year, never ending. The church once mentioned that a certain missionary would go to the field where she used to work before the end of his life. It seemed that if she had not gone, no one would be willing to go. The reason why these missionary work is so difficult is that no one obeys God’s words, and the Bible is not the main content during missionary work, because in the eyes of those who do not obey God’s words, the Bible is just words and cannot be connected with life, so Reading out God's words is boring because it doesn't have any life experience, so it cannot be connected with human life. I will give a few examples in the hope that this situation can be changed. A375
5. Shipwreck Ahoy
holding on to faith and a good
conscience, which some have
rejected and so have suffered
shipwreck with regard to the
faith. 1 Tim 1:19
6. Continue to trust in God
and do what you know is
right. Some people have
not done this, and their
faith is now in ruins.
7. keeping your faith [leaning
completely on God with
absolute trust and confidence in
His guidance] and having a
good conscience; for some
[people] have rejected [their
moral compass] and have
made a shipwreck of their faith.
8. So, what is this shipwreck?
It’s the pushing away of a good
conscience. So that a good
conscience becomes a bad
conscience.
10. Take Paul's example!
Acts 23:1 Then Paul, looking
intently at the Council (Sanhedrin,
Jewish High Court), said,
“Kinsmen, I have lived my life
before God with a perfectly good
conscience until this very day.”
11. But don’t follow his example.
Acts 26:9 “So then, I [once]
thought to myself that it was
my duty to do many things in
opposition to the name of
Jesus of Nazareth.
13. Our conscience is a tool
As a general rule it should
be followed
But there are many
exceptions
14. Our conscience is a tool
It is not divine…it must be
renewed like any other part of
our mind.
15. Our conscience is a tool
It is not divine…it must be
renewed like any other part of
our mind.
It is often wrong
16. Our conscience is a tool
It is not divine…it must be
renewed like any other part of
our mind.
It is often wrong
It produces false guilt, which is
not very beneficial
17. In the New Testament you
find the conscience mentioned
many different ways
18. The Conscience is complex
It manages:
Learning and living ideals/values
Discovering personal truth
Doing good and loving
Evaluating behavior and
attitudes and values
19. Can you see the problem?
Or should I say, some of the
problems?
20. It’s subjective
Each one of our consciences are
different
We all produce guilt and shame
and hatred for different reasons,
and have different ideals – We all
respond differently
21. Talk briefly about guilt
Its one of the Devil’s biggest tools
True Guilt
False Guilt
The difference?
22. True Guilt
This is the work of God in our
hearts cause we have sinned
To the pure, all things are pure, but
to the defiled and unbelieving,
nothing is pure; but both their
minds and their consciences are
defiled. Titus 1:15
23. False Guilt
This is the guilt we produce
ourselves, often with the help of
Satan, in order to condemn us and
weaken us.
Guilt by confusion
24. However, not all [believers] have
this knowledge. But some, being
accustomed [throughout their lives]
to [thinking of] the idol until now [as
real and living], still eat food as if it
were sacrificed to an idol; and
because their conscience is weak,
it is defiled (guilty, ashamed).
1 Corinthians 8:7
25. Unlike real guilt, false guilt has no
basis in reality…it is the product of the
conscience being uninformed
Examples: Perfectionist making a
mistake…….Student getting a bad
mark on his exam……Expecting more
from yourself….Not getting others
approval……Being hypersensitive
cause of a critical parent…Getting
fired from a job…Yelling…etc
26. What to do?
1)A conscience must be trained
Psalm 119:11 Your word have I hid in
my heart that I might not sin against
you.
An untrained conscience is a weak
conscience…a trained conscience is a
discerning conscience
27. What to do?
2) Let God control your life
Do not get drunk with wine, for that is
wickedness (corruption, stupidity), but
be filled with the [Holy] Spirit and
constantly guided by Him.
People who can be shipwrecked need
others approval, sensitive to criticism,
sometimes easy to manipulate
28. What to do?
3) Learn to say “NO” People will
understand
Proverbs 18:15 An intelligent heart
acquires knowledge, and the ear of the
wise seeks knowledge.
People who can be shipwrecked have a
problem saying NO.
