2. LITHOSPHERE
The Exterior or surface of the earth as Lithosphere. It is
Solid and made up of sedimentary rocks depth its depth
about 80 to 100 kilometer.
The uppermost part of the lithosphere that chemically
reacts to the atmosphere, hydrosphere, and biosphere
through the soil-forming process is called the
pedosphere.
There are two types of lithosphere:
i) Oceanic
ii) Continental
3.
4. ATMOSPHERE
Earth is surrounded from all sides by thick mixture
od air and other gases as if a product has been
enveloped.
Such a gaseous mixture is called atmosphere and it
is attached to the earth's surface by the
gravitational force of the earth.
It is derived from two Greek words; atmos means
water vapour and spharia means sphere i.e. sphere
of water vapour.
5. According to Monkhouse “The atmosphere is a thin
layer of gas held to earth by gravitational attraction” .
.
According to Critchfield, “The atmosphere is a deep
blanket of gases which entirely envelops the earth”
6. Hydrosphere
The hydrosphere is the combined mass of water
found on, under, and above the surface of the earth.
It has been estimated that there are 1386 million
cubic kilometres of water on earth. This includes
water in liquid and frozen forms in groundwater,
oceans, lakes and streams. Approximately 75% of
Earth’s surface, an area of some 361 million square
kilometres, is covered by ocean.
A hydrosphere is the total amount of water on a
planet. The hydrosphere includes water that is on the
surface of the planet, underground, and in the air.
