RELATED LAWS ON SPEED LIMITER
 Section 10 (3) (m) of FRSC
(establishment) acts, 2007:
“determining and enforcing speed
limits for all categories of roads
and vehicles and controlling the
use of speed limit device”
 Regulation 152 (4) of the National
Road Traffic Regulations 2012: “A
person shall not drive a vehicle on
any public road which is not fitted
with a speed limiter”.

WHAT ARE COMMERCIAL VEHICLES?
 “Commercial Vehicle” includes
motorcycle for hire, a hackney
carriage, stage carriage, a prime
mover, recovery vehicle, draw-bar-
trailer or articulated vehicle, buses,
pick-up vans, tricycles and any motor
vehicle primarily designed for the
carriage of goods and fare-paying
passengers as well as vehicles for
carrying people by companies and
religious bodies; (NRTR 2012 pg. 101)
 All School Buses shall be registered as
commercial vehicles (NRTR 109 (1))

ENFORCEMENT OF ROAD SPEED LIMITER
 As from 1st October, 2016 this
regulation will be enforced on
COMMERCIAL VEHICLES with the
punishment and sanctions attached
to it.
 it is mandatory that Speed
Limiters be installed in the
following categories of
vehicles before October 1 2016
