Space Robotics Market Report to 2027 by Geography Insights and
Developments Analysis
 Growing adoption of AI technologies in a wide range of public and private projects will fuel global space
robotics market share. Many space agencies are ramping up their exploration activities to get more
information about planets and other celestial objects. Global space robotics market will exceed USD 4
billion in valuation by 2027.
 They are building advanced spacecraft that can withstand harsh weather conditions on different planets.
Organizations like ISRO and NASA are upscaling the production of space rovers, landers, orbiters, and
foldable robots to intensify their space research.
 For example, NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) recently finished the construction of the Autonomous
Pop-Up Flat Folding Explorer Robot (A-PUFFER) to explore the rough terrains on the Moon. Astronauts will
use the robot to receive vital intel on locations that may otherwise be difficult for them to examine on
foot, like narrow craves and inaccessible craters.
 Space robotics software will hold a sizeable share of the global industry. Space research organizations are
developing software suites on a large scale to enhance their exploration capabilities and efficiency in
meeting their goals.
 ROS or Robotic Operating System is a collection of software libraries and tools to help organizations build
high-end robot applications. Since it has a set of high-quality developer tools, space agencies are
increasingly using ROS to develop mission-critical robotics technologies.
 In February 2022, Open Robotics collaborated with sub-orbital spaceflight company Blue Origin and NASA
to develop space ROS. It is a brand-new version of ROS 2, which will be used to fulfill validation and
verification requirements for aerospace software before it is used in any space mission.
 Advancements in space technologies have dramatically increased exploration activities in recent years.
Deep space studies are an ongoing process to understand changes in the atmosphere and surrounding
planets.
 For example, in October 2020, NASA provided conclusive evidence of water on the Moon, claiming that
the molecule can be seen in its sunlit regions. Such announcements have propelled efforts to explore the
lunar surface.
 Demand for deep space missions have prompted scientists to set up deep space laboratories. For instance,
in March 2022, China established a deep-space exploration laboratory named ‘Tiandu’ to assist the
country in developing plans for lunar and other planetary missions.

 Governments across the world have been closely following a variety of space missions for decades,
either to know more about the planetary system or gain a technological edge over their rivals. Many
regional governments are investing heavily in these space missions to encourage research
