Arbitration is an alternative to litigation that is generally faster, cheaper, and more flexible. While arbitration is widely used to resolve disputes in both public and private sectors, employees and consumers are at a disadvantage compared to employers and businesses. Employees cannot sue for violations of important employment laws if subject to mandatory arbitration. Consumers on average win less often and receive lower damages than in court. Employers and businesses tend to have a repeat-player advantage over individuals in arbitration. However, some businesses are removing mandatory arbitration clauses in response to customer resistance and regulatory pressures.

There are several ways to analyze a film, including genre analysis, auteur theory, and Lacey's repertoire of elements. Genre analysis examines a film's style and conventions to classify it into a genre like western or science fiction. Auteur theory analyzes a director's personal style and recurring themes across their body of work. The document discusses the 1960 Alfred Hitchcock film "Psycho" in several sections. It provides background on the film's director, writers, and stars. It also examines how Hitchcock used techniques like suspense, shocks, and unexpected twists to keep audiences engaged. Specifically, it analyzes the famous shower scene murder and how Hitchcock left parts to the imagination through editing.
The document provides an analysis of the short horror film "Rot Face" by local filmmaker Mark Kosobucki. It summarizes the film's dark and surreal visual style, strange music, and eerie silence. It also raises questions about the film's production and the director's intentions. Additionally, it discusses the cultural and historical context of slasher films and how this film draws from influences like Dario Argento and George A. Romero. The document describes the rules and rounds of a movie trivia quiz competition. It is divided into 5 rounds with different scoring rules for each round. The rounds include multiple choice questions about movies and actors. Clues are provided about films, directors, soundtracks and more to be identified by participants. Differential scoring is used in one round where points awarded depend on number of correct answers between teams.
This document provides an overview of the marketing campaign for the film La La Land. It discusses the positive reception to early trailers featuring Ryan Gosling singing and Emma Stone crooning. The trailers effectively established the romantic and musical tone of the film set in Los Angeles. Posters further enhanced this style by mimicking vintage record covers. The film premiered to acclaim at film festivals in Venice and Toronto, generating positive buzz around its charming story and music.
Performance is a 1970 British film directed by Donald Cammell and Nicolas Roeg. It stars James Fox as gangster Chas and Mick Jagger as reclusive rock star Turner. The film explores themes of identity, gender, and liberation through its surreal and psychedelic style as Chas enters Turner's decadent world of drugs and experimentalism. It uses techniques like non-linear editing, Dutch angles, and sound design to disrupt conventions and mirror the disorientation of altered states of consciousness.
1) Genre provides audiences with familiar codes and conventions to create expectations about the types of stories, characters, and themes in a film.
2) Producers can use genre as a guide to conform to audience expectations or challenge conventions.
3) While genre gives audiences comfort, it can also limit films and actors that break out of expected types. Blending genres or subverting expectations can both please and surprise audiences.
Matthew witnesses his girlfriend Rachel vanish without a trace and becomes the prime suspect. A year later, Rachel returns to where she disappeared, but she has changed and Matthew fears for his life. The film follows Matthew recounting the story to his psychiatrist Dr. Charles Stewart at a mental institution, where he claims Rachel was taken by aliens. However, new memories cause Matthew to question if she truly was abducted or if he had something to do with her disappearance.
Both Avatar and Inception are popular science fiction films, though they differ in their storylines, settings, and endings. Avatar follows humans who attack aliens on the planet Pandora to mine a valuable mineral, while Inception explores a dream world where people can infiltrate and plant ideas in others' dreams. Avatar is set primarily on Pandora, while Inception takes place in locations like Los Angeles and a Japanese palace. Avatar ends happily with the humans expelled from Pandora, while the ambiguous ending of Inception leaves it unknown if the events were real or a dream. Overall, both films use exciting visuals and plots, though they approach the science fiction genre in distinct ways.
The document provides a detailed summary and analysis of the film "The Maze Runner". It discusses the key purposes of entertainment, persuasion and promotion. It describes the plot, characters, target audiences, representation of social groups, narrative structure, themes and technical codes used. The film follows teenage boys trapped in a giant maze who must work together to escape while grappling with issues of memory, identity and coming of age.
Voice acting involves providing voices for animated characters, radio programs, audio dramas, video games, and other media. It is a specialized skill that requires training in voice acting techniques and the ability to take on different character voices. The document provides examples of voice acting roles and discusses how to get started in the career through voice acting workshops that teach skills like character voices, pitch control, and interacting with other actors. It profiles several Filipino voice acting instructors and their experience dubbing animated shows and films.
The document analyzes the openings of three horror films:
1) Psycho uses fast-paced black and white visuals and disjointed music to create tension and symbolize the killer's mindset.
2) Alien 3 immediately throws the viewer into action with futuristic technology and glimpses of the alien threat. The opening credits and sounds establish the sci-fi theme.
3) Evil Dead shows an injured, bloody figure approaching to build tension before a jump scare. The opening text in red font hints at death and violence to come. Soft ominous music builds more tension.
This document provides a critique of the play and movie Rent. It discusses how the film and musical focus on a group of artists living in New York City during the HIV/AIDS epidemic and dealing with issues like addiction, disease, and poverty. The critique praises the film for tackling important themes and showing "the grittiness of living with addiction and disease." It also notes that major themes in Rent include love, acceptance, and showing how individuals can overcome challenges through strength of character.
This document discusses the evolution of comedy horror films and analyzes how directors like John Landis, Sam Raimi, and Edgar Wright have influenced the genre. It notes that comedy horror is a unique hybrid genre that balances humor and scares. Landis pioneered horror-dominant films that incorporated comedy, like An American Werewolf in London. Raimi's low-budget Evil Dead films blended gore and slapstick. Wright's Shaun of the Dead was both a critical and financial success. The document examines how these directors established relatable characters and settings to enhance the comedy and horror elements. Music is also highlighted as an important aspect of setting tone in these films.

3. Who is SPACE DETECTIVE?
The galaxy isn’t paradise. It’s a festering cesspool of
crime, greed, and corruption - where justice is blind
and the meek inherit nothing. And for the mysterious,
hard-boiled human detective SHIRO, a rarity in this
galaxy, space can be a dangerous place… Especially
on CARINA DAWN, the fabled pleasure-station nestled
at the edge of the Carina Nebula.
Shiro returns to Carina Dawn after a lengthy exile to
help his old flame JINKS. Jinks needs Shiro’s help to
get away from her abusive husband, THAADIS-LARZ
DARKANIAN. The notorious space gangster has a
data-pad which holds information that’s key to Jinks’
freedom. But it won’t be easy. Thaad’s enforcer-bot
TH-U6, the pint-sized Moa’an loudmouth ZYZZO,
and a whole squad of goons are there to make sure
Shiro doesn’t get in the way!
Shiro and his partner, the hyper-intelligent ultra pistol
ABBEY, discover that the information on the data-pad
is more valuable than Jinks let on. Jinks is in way over
her head, and now Shiro finds himself embroiled
in a tangled web of interstellar intrigue, galactic
gangsters, and a sinister scheme that threatens the
very fate of the galaxy!

4. CAST & CREW
SWAMP MEDIA GROUP
Founded by friends Antonio Llapur and Matt Sjafiroeddin, Swamp Media Group
is an independent motion picture and entertainment company in Las Vegas, NV.
Tony and Matt met as undergraduates in UNLV’s film department where they
co-wrote the short film THEY’RE JUST GIRLS. Eventually their collaborations,
their shared loves of Batman, the Beatles, space operas, and mutual need of a
cheap apartment would turn their friendship into Swamp Media Group. In 2005
the dynamic duo created JOKER DOES SHAKESPEARE!, an odd short film about t h e
theatrical habits of a certain homicidal clown from Gotham City. Their current project, SPACE
DETECTIVE, took over a decade to complete. Space Detective, which is directed by
Llapur and stars Sjafiroeddin, is the story of SHIRO – a mysterious galactic sleuth and crime fighter. Set in
a galaxy filled with murderous gangsters, hip-hop alien hoods, and outer-space sex kittens – Space Detective
is a live action / animated sci-fi adventure in the classic tradition of FLASH GORDON or STAR WARS, but with an ultra-
modern vibe and a visual style unlike anything ever seen in this galaxy.
ANTONIO LLAPUR
Director / Writer / Art Director / VFX / Exec. Producer / “Mr. Black”
Antonio is a writer, actor, director, and part-time costumed vigilante from Las Vegas. He studied film at UNLV, where
he, co-wrote, and produced the short film THEY’RE JUST GIRLS. Antonio dove into his life-long love of comics and co-
wrote, produced, and directed Swamp Media Group’s first short - JOKER DOES SHAKESPEARE! Antonio also spent
time as a successful nightclub / rave / music journalist, with a notable stint at the LAS VEGAS WEEKLY and the column,
DIGITAL TONY. Antonio’s acting exploits include playing the psychotic cannibal CHEF - a lead killer featured at ELI ROTH’S
GORETORIUM on the Las Vegas Strip, and a bit-part as BATMAN in JOKER DOES SHAKESPEARE! Antonio also portrays
Space Detective’s nefarious MR. BLACK as well as RAY-RAY, the galactic gangsta rap superstar featured in the film’s
show-stopping musical number.
Antonio is the director of Swamp Media Group’s ambitious sci-fi adventure Space Detective. In addition to calling the
shots behind the camera, Antonio is Space Detective’s Co-Writer (with Matt Sjafiroeddin), Art Director, VFX Supervisor
/ Lead Artist, and is an Executive Producer.
MATT SJAFIROEDDIN
“Shiro” / Producer / Writer / Make-Up & Creature FX / Exec. Producer
Matt is also a former film student from UNLV. There, he co-wrote and starred in the short films THEY’RE JUST GIRLS
and MAIL ORDER NINJAS. Matt, who stars as the mysterious galactic crime-fighter, SHIRO in SWAMP MEDIA GROUP’s
SPACE DETECTIVE, is an accomplished stage actor, painter, writer, and poet. Matt appeared in a principal role in the
independent feature film, MALEVOLENCE, provided voice-over work for the short film SHADOW PUPPETS, and was the
piano-playing psycho at ELI ROTH’S GORETORIUM on the Las Vegas Strip.
Matt co-wrote, produced, and starred as DC Comics’ Clown Prince, THE JOKER in the Swamp’s first short, JOKER DOES
SHAKESPEARE! But it is in Swamp Media Group’s Space Detective, that Matt’s talents truly shine. Not only does he
star in the title role, Matt is Space Detective’s Producer and Co-Writer (with Antonio Llapur). He also created all of the
dozens of fantastic creatures and make-up effects in the film, as well as the many costumes for the seeming hundreds of
aliens that populate the Space Detective universe. As if all this on top of playing the film’s iconic hero SHIRO weren’t
enough, Matt performs one of Space Detective’s most complex puppet-creatures, the mischievous CHI-MENG THE
MAGNIFICENT. Matt is also featured in the film’s hip-hop musical number as the space-dog rap superstar P’NUT.
5. ANGELA RYSK
“Jinks Darkanian”
Angela Rysk is tough, raw, and accessible with a healthy amount of sarcasm. She has also been described as snarky and
fun… by her ex-boyfriend. A second generation valley girl, she left L.A. at 18 years old to study acting in Ashland, OR,
because that made sense. Armed with a B.F.A in Theatre and tens of thousands of dollars in debt, she found her way back
to California. On an average day, you’ll find Angela hanging shelves or installing cable for her friends, because she’s the
handy one. She spends her free time doing yoga, kicking ass recording voice overs, and reading angsty teenage fantasy
novels in her closet.
Angela expertly portrays JINKS DARKANIAN in Swamp Media Group’s long-awaited SPACE DETECTIVE, bringing charm
and vulnerability to the complicated femme fatale. And a fancy accent!
NEMO STRANG
“Thaadis-Larz Darkanian”
Nemo Strang is a diamond in the rough. The role of the villainous space gangster THAADIS-LARZ DARKANIAN in the
indie feature SPACE DETECTIVE is Nemo’s first film role. With his decades of experience of managing and producing local
bands in the Las Vegas area, and as one of the owners of JAMPOT RECORDS, Nemo is no foreigner to the entertainment
industry. Coming from a show business family, Nemo’s sister is Evelyn Guerrero - “Donna” from Cheech and Chong films
and wife to iconic movie and television star, Pat Morita, as well as being family with legendary comic Lenny Bruce. Nemo’s
relationship to the Swamp family goes back to his days working with Space Detective composer Marcus Sjafiroeddin
and his former band, KING CARTEL.
STEED CORULLA
“TH-U6”
Steed Corulla is an eclectic artist with a broad range of talents ranging from stage acting and screenwriting, to poetry,
music, and drawing. Steed has appeared in the feature film MALEVOLENCE, plus numerous short films, pilots, and stage
productions. The incomparable Mr. Corulla is a wellspring of comedy and improvisation, and it’s through this particular
knack for improv that Steed was able to bring to life the formidable enforcer-bot TH-U6 in Swamp Media Group’s SPACE
DETECTIVE.
RICO LEE JR.
“Zyzzo” / Co-Producer / Assistant Music Producer
Rico is an accomplished actor and entrepreneur. He has been featured in numerous commercials and print ads, and has
appeared in such films as AMERICAN SWEETHEARTS, RUSH HOUR 2, and BLADE. Rico received his training under
Frank Romano and Vic Perillo and expertly portrays the lovable little alien thug ZYZZO in Swamp Media Group’s space-
age mystery, SPACE DETECTIVE. As Rico’s costar and producer, Matt Sjafiroeddin, puts it, “Rico’s performance really
stands out in Space Detective. Zyzzo steals the movie!” Aside from acting, Rico has found success as a talent agent,
musician, and sought-after airbrush artist. Space Detective’s eclectic soundtrack benefits from Rico’s unique talents and
experience as the film’s Assistant Music Producer. Rico also joined Marcus Sjafiroeddin in co-writing Space Detective’s
main title theme RUN SHIRO RUN and the music for BA-WEEP, the film’s show-stopping, hip-hop musical number.
STEPHANIE REYNOLDS
The Voice of “Abbey”
Stephanie Reynolds is an accomplished actor with a BFA in Theater from the University of Nevada Las Vegas. She has
several years of stage experience in acting, stage design, and directing. Stephanie provides the voice for the no-nonsense
talking blaster gun ABBEY in Swamp Media Group’s sci-fi / noir adventure, SPACE DETECTIVE.
6. AARON GOODWIN
Director of Digital Photography / Executive Producer
Aaron Goodwin is one of the beloved stars of Travel Channel’s hit show GHOST ADVENTURES. Always armed with a
camera, Aaron travels the globe with the Ghost Adventures Crew recording their unforgettable experiences in some of the
world’s most haunted locations.
An Oregon native, Aaron moved to Las Vegas where he fell in love with film and taught himself how to edit video and
operate a camera. Aaron gained experience by working as a cameraman on numerous TV shows. He's worked on projects
ranging from red-carpet movie premieres to sporting events. It was during this time that Aaron became a fast friend and
trusted collaborator to Matt Sjafiroeddin and Antonio Llapur, joining the duo on Swamp Media Group’s JOKER DOES
SHAKESPEARE! as the short film’s Director of Photography. Aaron continued working with Swamp Media Group on their
next project, the live action / animated sci-fi feature SPACE DETECTIVE. Over a decade in the making, being one of Space
Detective’s Executive Producers and Director of Digital Photography has been a career highlight for Aaron. Aaron began
work on Space Detective before joining the Ghost Adventures Crew and has stayed with the production all through its
long creation. Aaron is beyond excited to finally show this incredibly unique, fun, and exciting film to his fans all across the
world!
MARCUS SJAFIROEDDIN
Original Music and Sound Design / Executive Producer
Marcus is a classically trained musician whose credits include the LAS VEGAS SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA and the LAS
VEGAS PHILHARMONIC. Marcus was also bassist for the successful Las Vegas based band KING CARTEL, whose album
ATOMIC was named local album of the year 2000 by LAS VEGAS CITY LIFE MAGAZINE.
Favoring more behind-scenes work to the spotlight, Marcus has spent the past few years writing and recording in his
own studio. Through his company NO EGO SOUND, Marcus has produced audio and music for radio, commercials, and
independent films. Building on his already eclectic musical repertoire, Marcus is the Swamp’s official composer and sound
effects producer, writing the score and creating audio effects for JOKER DOES SHAKESPEARE! and SPACE DETECTIVE,
as well as the indie short, SHADOW PUPPETS - from Three Light Pictures. Marcus is also one of Space Detective’s
Executive Producers and is the movie’s most prolific background alien performer.
CHARLES WILSON
Co-Producer / VFX Animation
Charles Wilson, originally from Miami Beach, has always had an artistic nature. Usually found with a pencil and paper in
hand, Charles has a penchant for arts and entertainment. Resourceful, lighthearted, and comedic at times, Charles likes to
admire the art in all that surrounds him. Charles got his start with Swamp Media Group playing a happy corpse in JOKER
DOES SHAKESPEARE! Charles went on to construct the BB-420 puppet for SPACE DETECTIVE. The long-suffering bot
is also voiced by Charles’ father, MARTIN WILSON, keeping BB-420 a family affair. Charles ultimately joined the film’s VFX
department - creating lasers, explosions, and a myriad of FX animations. Charles also assisted with mattes and composites,
and handled the Swamp’s IT. Charles is a filmmaker in his own right. He directed and produced the short film, SHADOW
PUPPETS, and the animated PROJECT FUTURE.
AMAHL DUNBAR
3D Animation / Co-Producer
Amahl Dunbar is a freelance 3D animator & visual effects artist, and the 3D animator on Swamp Media Group’s SPACE
DETECTIVE. Amahl began drawing in second grade, when a class mate showed him how to define figure poses & body
mass using circles. He was intrigued that a technique driven drawing system could yield quick & effective results. His grade
school teachers saw his passion for drawing & encouraged him to sign up for advanced art classes for middle school. Amahl
studied 3D animation & film making at the College of Southern Nevada (CSN), and computer graphics at the University at
Buffalo (UB). Amahl has been with the Swamp since the beginning, handling blue-screen composites and mattes for JOKER
DOES SHAKESPEARE! On Space Detective, he contributed 3D animation, concept art, animatics, & particle effects.
Amahl was responsible for creating SHIRO’S RIDE and the climactic space battle. Amahl also was a major component in
bringing to life Space Detective’s VORTEX NIGHTCLUB, the film’s major set-piece / action sequence. Amahl modeled
the entire 3D structure, created dozens of individual backgrounds, and created / animated hundreds of individual CG
characters.
7. My best friend, and SWAMP MEDIA GROUP collaborator, Matt Sjafiroeddin and I began SPACE
DETECTIVE over a decade ago as a short film that was meant to be no more than a portfolio piece.
We had just completed a clever script about Las Vegas ecstasy dealers called MR. E that we wanted
to produce as a small-budget indie. We wanted something a bit more ambitious than our crazy short,
JOKER DOES SHAKESPEARE! to sell us as filmmakers. We struggled with ideas, but Matt and I
decided to mine what sealed our friendship to begin with – comic books and science fiction. SPACE
DETECTIVE was born.
SPACE DETECTIVE’s script was a little long for a short, but it was solid, and remained so even as it
evolved into a feature film. Still, it was the characters that were gold. The mysterious space detective
SHIRO and his wise-cracking laser gun sidekick ABBEY were two of our best characters. It’s safe to
say that we’re damn proud of that talking laser gun. Matt and I were also tremendously excited about
TH-U6 and ZYZZO. One’s a big robot in a suit and bowler hat; the other is a four-foot tall bulbhead who
dresses like LL Cool J. How could we not bring these guys to life?
Needless to say, we forgot MR. E as soon as we started testing green screens and VFX. We took
inspiration from indie comics and created high-contrast black & white visuals that would hide our very
cheap VFX. It was a lot of trial and error, but it worked. SPACE DETECTIVE could happen. Still we
couldn’t raise a single penny. No one outside the Swamp believed in us. Crowdfunding would still be
a few years from being a thing, but it didn’t matter… we were SWAMP MEDIA GROUP and we were
going to make this picture!
We shot whenever we could. Friends and family were our cast and crew. It was boiling hot in our
garage and production was long. And while we had to bend a few laws to keep the cameras rolling, I
can’t imagine a company of actors and filmmakers having more fun. Five years and forty-two hours of
footage later we switched gears to post. It would be another five or six more years of constant VFX,
animation, audio, and insanity before we had a movie.
It was early on when Matt and I realized that SPACE DETECTIVE was something special. The kinetic
rough cuts gave us characters that weren’t quite cartoons, but weren’t quite real either. It was impossible
to look away. What started as a VFX cheat ended up working to our advantage aesthetically. We
experimented and grew the SPACE DETECTIVE universe with montages, comedy skits, and endless
pop-culture commentary. We even included a ridiculous music video. It all played. There wasn’t anything
like our movie.
Directing SPACE DETECTIVE wasn’t easy. Quite frankly, there were a few times that I almost microwaved
the footage. But how could I? All that I’ve ever wanted was to be a director. Hell, my earliest memory is
of a movie theater and STAR WARS. But most importantly - Matt, myself, and the whole Swamp crew
spent over a solid decade making this giant little picture. We sacrificed more than we ever dreamed, but
we never gave up on the movie - or each other. And while SPACE DETECTIVE took forever and a day
to create, we stuck with it. It was worth every damn minute. We made the coolest movie ever!
A STATEMENT FROM DIRECTOR ANTONIO LLAPUR
8. A STATEMENT FROM PRODUCER & STAR MATT SJAFIROEDDIN
Over a decade in the making, SPACE DETECTIVE has grown into the most important project of our
lives and galvanized us into the formidable storytellers and confident filmmakers that we are today. We
set off to make this film ourselves with no financial backing before the current era of crowdfunding, and
with the help of a few trusted and talented friends, Antonio Llapur and I set the DIY-machine in motion:
writing, producing, directing, and starring in this film.
SPACE DETECTIVE’s uniquely quasi-animated style allowed us to cut corners, use inexpensive
materials, repaint old & broken toys, and even recycle trash to fit our needs. Utilizing my skills in
painting and arts & crafts, I could handle all of the make-up for the actors, as well as, build all of the
practical effects: the props, the small-scale models, and the puppets populating our sci-fi world.
Casting this film came easy, for we were already surrounded by talented individuals like Rico Lee Jr.,
Steed Corulla, Nemo Strang, Stephanie Reynolds, Lien Woodin, and Martin Wilson. Topping off our
cast with ANGELA RYSK, a gifted actress we found through our local social network, gave our project
the “dramatic legitimacy” we needed to pull off this endeavor.
Our animators shined in the post-production phase. Amahl Dunbar’s skills in 3D-modeling filled our
world with interstellar vehicles and our hero’s own spaceship. He also gave full 3-dimensional depth
to one of our most dynamic scenes by creating the background for our night club sequence. And
the incomparable Charles Wilson evolved from crew member to VFX, assisted our director & VFX
supervisor Antonio in finishing the visual aspects of SPACE DETECTIVE, and helped to create dozens
upon dozens of laser beams, explosions, and VFX animations.
No film is complete without sound; and in the Herculean task of bringing dialogue, sound FX, and music
to SPACE DETECTIVE, my own brother, Marcus Sjafiroeddin, was able to accomplish what I believe
is unprecedented in the history of cinema. Being an accomplished and classically trained musician
with over 2 decades of recording experience, Marcus was able to do the undo-able. With the luxury
of multiple years of post-production, and the help of Rico Lee Jr., Don Hartley, Antonio, and myself,
Marcus was able to switch hats between recording dialogue, creating unique sound FX & foley, and
producing an eclectic array of musical genres from classical music, conventional noir & jazz, to hip-
hop and electronic house music. His expertise in all areas of music and sound has elevated SPACE
DETECTIVE into a realm of professionalism that no one with ears (or eyes for that matter!) can contest.
With a DIY persistence, a love of filmmaking, and the fortitude to perfect our artistic abilities, Antonio and
I have surrounded ourselves with extremely talented and ambitious people through SWAMP MEDIA
GROUP. Guiding them to help us follow our dream of creating, what we now believe, is not only the most
important project of our lives, but a film that might be considered as one of the most influential films in
the democratization of our film industry. SPACE DETECTIVE has potential to become a conversational
flashpoint for what is now possible to achieve by our current DIY generation of filmmakers.
