Baroque still life paintings were popular in 17th-18th century Netherlands and Flanders. They often depicted fruit, flowers, game, or other objects and used techniques like chiaroscuro. Symbolism was important - fruit represented abundance while dead animals reminded viewers of mortality. Dutch masters like Willem van Aelst and Jan Davidsz de Heem were known for their realistic, detailed still lifes and use of light/shadow effects. Later, vanitas still lifes directly addressed themes of death and impermanence through skulls and objects representing the five senses. Students are assigned to create their own symbolic vanitas composition.

Aboriginal art is some of the oldest art in the world, with rock carvings and paintings dating back at least 30,000 years. The Bradshaw Paintings in Kimberly, Australia are at least 17,000 years old and depict stories from the Dreamtime, the beginning of time according to Aboriginal beliefs, which were passed down through rock and tree paintings featuring symbols. Dot Painting originated in the desert using natural paints on the ground to create sand designs similar to those now produced with acrylic paints.

I liked to restore ancient techniques, the academic world, the respectful placing in prestigious settings.
I wasn't tied to the distinction abstract/figurative, sacred/profane, but the non-temporal search of the visual synthesis.
I dealt with this knowledge in other to elaborate ideas that would lead to a mature style.
So maintaining the colour firm, light and shade contrasts, the expressive power, i came to my language.
In this introduction my way through the years, the overcoming of forming, my visual achievement.
Volcano art
The students in Room 22 created volcano artwork using pastels and worked on blending lighter and darker colors together. They documented their finished art pieces in a slideshow that was put together by Kahurangi and Luxshana to share the results of their volcano art project.

NATIONAL ARTISTS OF THE PHILIPPINES

Never mind the paradox
In this paper the author provides a brief history of “Atelier Populaire” or Popular workshop and the situationist political movement responsible for its creation. The workshop was established to design and produce art to inspire and support situationist objectives during the Paris political protests and uprising of May 1968. The protests, resultant strikes and insurrection caused the temporary breakdown of functioning government in France.
