In Norse mythology, the sun goddess Sól and the moon god Mani are chased through the sky in their chariots by wolves named Sköll and Hati, respectively. Sól rides in her chariot drawn by two horses, and is sometimes caught by Sköll, causing an eclipse, but the horses usually outrun the wolf. When Sköll and Sól and Hati and Mani finally meet, it will trigger Ragnarok, the Norse apocalypse.
