Simulation of Component Placement based on
bim+

Abstract
A new plugin has been implemented in bim+ which facilitates the time
scheduling of a construction project. The whole construction work can be
divided into several construction phases. Each of these phases contains
a list of structural components that has to be constructed/placed within a
certain time duration. Creation of each phase, its element list and the
time duration will be defined by the user.
Motivation
 Better collaboration among the
designers, engineers, managers
and contractors.
 An open platform to work on
BIM models.
 Facilitate the time scheduling of
whole project by dividing it into
small segments.
 Smooth workflow and better projection of the finishing
point.
 Better cost projection etc.
 Easy access to the information for user simply by Smartphone

Conclusions / Outlook
This application allows the user to make detailed time scheduling of a
construction project by dividing it into several phases. The interactions
between the construction phases are user defined which makes the
feature quiet flexible and parallelly efficient. How ever the Automatic
Control will help the user to create construction phases in a logical
manner. The whole work flow is visualized by a Gantt chart. The
application can be used in smartphones which lead to have a better
possibility to mannage the project in any place at any time. In addition, a
hierarchical data structure can be implemented to enable adding
subphases to existing phases for a more detailed scheduling.
Rock‘n Roll
ConstructionPhase is a class which has a name, begin date, end date
etc. as attributes. Another class of type observable collection is
CollectionConstructionPhase which has objects of type
ConstructionPhase. All the instances of these classes are accessed from
DataProvider. DialogConstructionPhase is the associated with the
interface where an object of class type ConstructionPhase is created.
EditTimeInterval is the interface where an already existing object of class
ConstructionPhase is edited.
How it was before
In a BIM-based workflow, design and construction information from all
project participants is stored in a single database. It helps eliminate
inconsistencies by providing all project team members with the most
current information about elements in the design. Having access to the
information stored in a building model has also created new workflows
that are fundamentally changing the way projects are designed,
constructed, planned, and analyzed. In fact BIM offers benefits
throughout the entire project lifecycle.
By linking timelines of project tasks to model elements, it is possible to
inform critical planning decisions about construction methods, resource
allocation, activity sequencing, site space utilization, and so on. There is
a wide variety of project planning tools to create project schedules.
Besides, there are tools which enables us to import those project
schedules and link them up with our BIM models. However, the possibility
of creating a project schedule in the same platform will make the whole
process even more simpler undoubtedly.
bim+ is one of the twelve brands of Nemetschek AG which provides an
open platform to work on BIM models. This facilitates a better
collaboration among the people involved in a construction project working
from different locations. However, a feature was still needed for creating
the time schedule of the whole work process and to visualize it.
What was achieved
 A completely new feature in bim+ for time scheduling of a construction
project.
 Flexibility to define the interactions between each construction phase.
 Possibility to make the whole time schedule by filling information from
different location by different person at different times.
 Visualization of the whole workflow in a Gantt chart.
 Possibility to have 3D model beside the additional dimension which is
time.
