I am part of a very large project where we decided to use TDD from the very start. We encountered a number of challenges and learned a lot of lessons. We are still learning and evolving our approach to TDD. We discovered that doing TDD badly is actually worse than not doing TDD at all and that it is very important to get some basics rights otherwise you'll put yourself in a world of pain.

However, a new approach called "Security as a Code" aims to break down these barriers by integrating security directly into coding practices similar to how unit testing, infrastructure as code, and acceptance testing have previously integrated other functions. Continuous Delivery in a Legacy Shop - One Step at a Time
Not every continuous delivery (CD) initiative starts with someone saying “Drop everything. We’re going to do DevOps.” Sometimes, you have to grow your process incrementally. And sometimes you don’t set out to grow at all—you are just fixing problems with your process, trying to make things better. Gene Gotimer discusses techniques and the chain of tools he has used to bring a DevOps mindset and CD practices into a legacy environment. Gene discusses how his team started fixing problems and making process improvements in development. From there, they tackled one problem after another, each time making the release a little better and a little less risky. They incrementally brought their practices through other environments until the project was confidently delivering working and tested releases every two weeks. Gene shares their journey and the tools they used to build quality into the product, the releases, and the release process.

They analyzed how time dependence varied over time in two open source projects, finding that one progressively built on older periods while the other cycled between new and old. By plotting heatmaps of dependencies between periods, they identified the most foundational periods, which introduced large amounts of code or invasive changes.

Perspectives on Software Visualization
Software visualization addresses the visual representation of software systems, their dynamic execution, and their development process. In this context, diagrams can help software developers, software architects, or researchers understand and analyze the system, to finally improve the software and development process. Those different roles, however, come along with different perspectives and requirements for visualization tools. In my talk, I will give recent examples from my own work how those diverging perspectives can be addressed: On the one hand, high-level visualizations showing complete software systems and their evolution might be leveraged by architects and researchers. On the other hand, small visualizations embedded in the code could support developers in their daily work extending and optimizing the code. Finally, I want to conclude by giving an outlook on future perspectives on software visualization.

Perspectives on Software Visualization
Software visualization addresses the visual representation of software systems, their dynamic execution, and their development process. In this context, diagrams can help software developers, software architects, or researchers understand and analyze the system, to finally improve the software and development process. Those different roles, however, come along with different perspectives and requirements for visualization tools. In my talk, I will give recent examples from my own work how those diverging perspectives can be addressed: On the one hand, high-level visualizations showing complete software systems and their evolution might be leveraged by architects and researchers. On the other hand, small visualizations embedded in the code could support developers in their daily work extending and optimizing the code. Finally, I want to conclude by giving an outlook on future perspectives on software visualization.

How to be proud when you are done
This document discusses the importance of having a shared Definition of Done (DoD) between all parties involved in a project. It explains that without a DoD, different stakeholders can have conflicting understandings of what constitutes "done" work, leading to broken expectations. The document recommends introducing a DoD as early as possible in a project. It should be created collaboratively with input from customers, teams, and management. Automating checks against the DoD helps ensure work is truly done before moving forward. Continuous inspection and adaptation of the DoD also helps address problems over time. Having a DoD establishes a common vocabulary and allows the team to work together effectively to meet goals.
How to be proud when you are done
Although all of us speak the same language, each of us uses different meaning of words "soon”, "fine” and "done”. That’s why for one developer "I’m done” means that just a moment ago the part of the code with implemented functionality has been successfully executed, while for another developer it means that code has been committed to repository but without checking if build is green or not on continuous integration server. At the same time "done" of developer-perfectionist means totally refactored and optimized code. And only for "black swan”-developer phrase "I'm done“ means that all tests were passed, new functionality was documented on wiki and a new feature was verified by customer on the demo server.
So if you want to decrease a risk of misunderstanding inside a team or between team and customer you should make agreement about common vision of “definition of done“ and then start using it on a daily basis. In order to prevent losing your time and stepping on the hidden rake during discussion of your done criteria we will share our knowledge about creating compact and most effective “definition of done“. We will talk about lifecycle of this document and about approaches that help you to add important items to it. We will discuss doneness on different levels (preplanning, user story and task development, sprint). And of course we won’t forget to tell you how to create “Definition of Done“ which will satisfy not only your team but your customer as well.

Salary Formula - bumpy road to transparency.
1) The company implemented a salary formula to increase fairness, clarity, and transparency around salaries. The formula calculates salary as a base amount multiplied by weighted factors like experience, seniority, skills, and location.
2) After the first iteration, the formula covered 70% of employees but issues arose around measuring some factors objectively. The company refined the formula in a second iteration.
3) By the conclusion, the salary formula achieved its goals of reducing unfair salaries and unclear expectations through negotiations, while covering 85% of employees. The company continues refining the formula.
