Nicholas Konstantinovich Roerich was a Russian painter, writer, archaeologist, theosophist, philosopher and public figure who lived from October 9, 1874 to December 13, 1947. He taught his family that while we are surrounded by wonders, we often fail to see them because we are blind to opportunities in the darkness of ignorance.
