Prof. Juan Quemada gave a presentation on social protocols and how they relate to human interaction and collaborative applications. He discussed how humans are inherently social and wired to connect with others. He explored how social protocols can be explicitly represented to trigger cognitive and behavioral processes that enable group work. Quemada also examined how context and interaction models can be defined and implemented in applications like Isabel to support remote interactions similar to co-located interactions. He argued that collaborative applications should be designed based on social protocols to help users feel connected to others.
