Presentation on cloud computing &crowdsourcingShyla Shanker
This presentation discusses cloud computing and crowdsourcing. Cloud computing allows software and documents to be stored on remote servers accessed via the internet rather than a local computer. This provides benefits like cost efficiency, unlimited storage, backup/recovery, and easy access from anywhere. However, it also poses security and connectivity issues. Crowdsourcing involves outsourcing tasks to a large network of people. While it can help get work done cheaply, it can also be unreliable and expose ideas. The presentation examines how businesses use cloud computing and common crowdsourcing platforms and tasks. Both approaches have advantages and disadvantages to consider.
Crowd computing is what makes crowdsourcing possible at the scale and quality required by the enterprise. This short and simple presentation will fill you in on what it is and why it's going to radically but seamlessly improve how knowledge work gets done.
Crowdsourcing involves outsourcing tasks traditionally performed by employees to a large, undefined group of people through an open call. It has been used successfully by companies like Netflix, whose Netflix Prize competition improved their recommendation algorithm, and Cisco, whose I-Prize contest generated new business ideas. However, crowdsourcing also carries risks like producing useless or wasteful results if not implemented properly.
Google Glass is an augmented reality head-mounted display developed by Google to allow hands-free use of mobile technology. It uses various technologies like wearable computing, ambient intelligence, and augmented reality to display information to the user via a small video display. Information can be accessed and shared using voice commands via a microphone. While promising new capabilities, challenges include privacy concerns, safety issues when used while driving, and ensuring durability of the device.
