This document describes the development of a simple device called SNR Over WIFI (SNoW) tester to help BSNL broadband technicians diagnose line faults without expensive test equipment. The SNoW tester uses a modified Android app called BktSnrSet and a WiFi-enabled ADSL modem powered by a 12V battery to display real-time SNR and attenuation readings from any point along the copper line between the distribution frame and customer site. Customizing the app allows technicians to troubleshoot problems by connecting the portable device anywhere on the line and observing signal levels via their phone, helping to improve service quality with minimal cost.
