This document describes a proposed mobile phone sniffer device to help locate lost phones. The sniffer would work by detecting a phone's unique IMEI number when in range, similar to how networks use IMEI numbers to identify phones and block stolen devices. The sniffer would include a unidirectional antenna, small base station with transceiver and oscillator, and software to store detected IMEI numbers and signaling data in a database for tracking purposes. The proposed sniffer aims to provide an effective and low-cost solution for locating lost mobile phones.
