Proposals to introduce new high speed broadband services onto Britain's rail network this week may sound like great news for companies who can benefit from the remote working possibilities this would bring – but the likelihood of this being established effectively has been questioned.

Snapchat Hack Shows Danger of Viruses to

The value of remote working has been demonstrated by the case of a
fallen tree that has blocked a busy railway track in Coventry.
According to the BBC, a tree not only fell on the line at Canley, blocking
the northbound line from Northampton to Birmingham, but then
caught fire.
2. This particular section of line is a busy one, lying between Coventry
station and Birmingham International, with Birmingham New Street
beyond. Alternative routes are scarce, as Coventry is not served by a
large array of suburban routes. The one alternative would be for trains
leaving the city to be diverted north via Nuneaton, but, apart from being
a longer route, this could be restricted by the existing rail traffic using
the line.
It closed the line at around 14:00 BST today (October 16th) and the
disruption may have been particularly problematic for those travelling to
have face-to-face meetings in offices in Birmingham.
3. Such travellers may have found they could benefit from remote working
and the ability to access company data via a laptop in a secure
environment, safely getting to important information that might have
been out of reach had their only means of getting to it been restricted to
the office IT system or physical files.
According to rail operator Midland Mainline, there would be "no
services between Birmingham International and Coventry until further
notice" and advised travellers to use buses instead, something that
would substantially increase their journey times.
4. With autumn now upon us and winter approaching, disruption to
transport may become more frequent. Snow and stormy weather could
bring down power lines and cause trees and other obstructions to block
tracks more often in the months ahead, while the ubiquitous autumnal
leaves on the line and the "wrong type of snow" await many commuters
in the months ahead.
Earlier this month, office workers in central Birmingham may have
suffered another disruption that would have caused a loss of output for
those unable to work remotely – a fire in a building on New Canal
Street in the Digbeth area left the road closed for several hours.
