This document discusses different learning theories and approaches including constructionism which focuses on making things, social constructivism where learning is social, and hype around learning technologies. It also mentions reflection, collaboration, freedom from traditional university IT services, employability, and assessment of group work.
Research in Distance Education 2011 conference keynote. Presentation by Professor Richard Noss (London KNowledge Lab). Much of our time as educationalists is spent considering how to enhance the teaching and learning of knowledge that has been subject only to slight change over the last century. The development of these curricula was formed by the needs of a pre-computational era, with inert technologies, and forms of representations that are - for some subjects at least - now largely obsolete. In this lecture, I will re-evaluate what becomes possible to teach and learn that was, quite simply, more or less unlearnable and unteachable before.
This document discusses enabling ubiquitous learning through work-based learning ecosystems. It proposes integrating technologies like ePortfolios, blogs, digital repositories, games and mobile devices into an open architectural framework. This ecosystem would support professional development, competency development and performance evaluation through immersive learning experiences and next-generation learning content management. Barriers to the approach like lack of time, costs and technical issues are also discussed, along with potential bottlenecks and directions for further research to address complexity versus usability challenges.
Teaching Relational Flexibility to Improve Core Cognitive Skills in Children ...doctrid2012
The document discusses using an interactive computerized teaching program called T-IRAP to teach relational flexibility to children with autism. Relational flexibility is thought to be key for intelligent behavior but children with autism tend toward rigid responding. T-IRAP aims to improve relational flexibility skills like same/different and more/less through interactive exercises. A new study using T-IRAP will specifically target relational flexibility and test if it correlates with increased IQ scores in children with autism.

This document provides an overview of how ICT can be used for studying, teaching, and learning. It discusses using ICT for research, references, word processing, presentations, virtual learning environments, interactive whiteboards, and more. It also outlines the UK national curriculum standards for computer science and digital literacy at key stages 1 and 2, which involve using software, storing and retrieving data, communicating safely online, writing programs, and understanding computer networks. The document emphasizes that teaching ICT prepares students for an increasingly digital world and enables access to global communities and ideas.
Digital literacy expresses the skills needed to live, learn and work in a digital society. While students are comfortable with technology in their personal lives, they struggle to apply those skills to academic tasks. Developing digital literacy requires meaningful experiences where technology enhances learning. Universities need to change by involving students, integrating technology into learning spaces, and preparing students for technology-enhanced learning. Developing digital literacy is a sector-wide effort to promote coherent strategies across institutions.
The document summarizes the CoCreat project, which is funded by the EU's Lifelong Learning Programme from 2010-2013. The project aims to explore, develop, and evaluate technologically enhanced collaborative spaces. Five collaborative spaces are being tested involving elementary school pupils, university students, aged people, and upper secondary school students. The spaces utilize technologies like iPads, Second Life, and social media to facilitate creative collaboration between partners from several European countries. Project management involves preparing applications and reports, and drawing on methodologies like Gantt charts and agile management to handle challenges and communicate effectively.

THE SACRIFICE HOW PRO-PALESTINE PROTESTS STUDENTS ARE SACRIFICING TO CHANGE T...indexPub
The recent surge in pro-Palestine student activism has prompted significant responses from universities, ranging from negotiations and divestment commitments to increased transparency about investments in companies supporting the war on Gaza. This activism has led to the cessation of student encampments but also highlighted the substantial sacrifices made by students, including academic disruptions and personal risks. The primary drivers of these protests are poor university administration, lack of transparency, and inadequate communication between officials and students. This study examines the profound emotional, psychological, and professional impacts on students engaged in pro-Palestine protests, focusing on Generation Z's (Gen-Z) activism dynamics. This paper explores the significant sacrifices made by these students and even the professors supporting the pro-Palestine movement, with a focus on recent global movements. Through an in-depth analysis of printed and electronic media, the study examines the impacts of these sacrifices on the academic and personal lives of those involved. The paper highlights examples from various universities, demonstrating student activism's long-term and short-term effects, including disciplinary actions, social backlash, and career implications. The researchers also explore the broader implications of student sacrifices. The findings reveal that these sacrifices are driven by a profound commitment to justice and human rights, and are influenced by the increasing availability of information, peer interactions, and personal convictions. The study also discusses the broader implications of this activism, comparing it to historical precedents and assessing its potential to influence policy and public opinion. The emotional and psychological toll on student activists is significant, but their sense of purpose and community support mitigates some of these challenges. However, the researchers call for acknowledging the broader Impact of these sacrifices on the future global movement of FreePalestine.

This document provides an overview of wound healing, its functions, stages, mechanisms, factors affecting it, and complications.
A wound is a break in the integrity of the skin or tissues, which may be associated with disruption of the structure and function.
Healing is the body’s response to injury in an attempt to restore normal structure and functions.
Healing can occur in two ways: Regeneration and Repair
There are 4 phases of wound healing: hemostasis, inflammation, proliferation, and remodeling. This document also describes the mechanism of wound healing. Factors that affect healing include infection, uncontrolled diabetes, poor nutrition, age, anemia, the presence of foreign bodies, etc.
Complications of wound healing like infection, hyperpigmentation of scar, contractures, and keloid formation.

SMARTlab has three distinct strands of activity:
1. A transdiscipliary practice-based research centre with successful
longstanding PhD programmes, MA programmes and ‘buddy system’
community outreach and action research projects, founded and run by
scholars who are also artists, educators and technologists who have long
encountered difficulties in placing their work in more ‘traditional’ disciplinary
settings;
2. A suite of community engagement and creative industries projects
focused on e- inclusion and design for ability, assistive technology, IT for
women and girls, and educational inclusivity; &
3. A knowledge transfer centre and sensory studio that operates as a
space where local communities can join forces with academics, artists,
technologists and game designers to make and test meaningful games
and interactive tools.
