Alexander Graham Bell invented the telephone in the late 1800s. Early cellphones from the 1980s cost as much as $4,000 and weighed over 2 pounds. Smartphones have more advanced computing capabilities and connectivity than early cellphones, allowing them to run applications, access the internet, and interpret information. Smartphones are advancing rapidly and gaining features like voice control, home automation, and augmented reality.
