In recent years, the European Commission and EU countries have set up numerous large-scale pilot projects to contribute to the digitisation of the energy industry across Europe and beyond. The most important goals of this endeavour are reaching a common energy data space to facilitate infrastructure planning and monitoring, empowering citizens by providing them with tools for participation in energy markets, supporting research and development of digital solutions, improving cybersecurity of the energy sector, and supporting the adoption of climate-neutral solutions for the ICT sector. In this panel key projects and services will be presented that move towards a sustainable and digital energy world by exploiting data sharing. The renowned experts and market drivers will show up their approaches and innovative solutions by presenting: Insights to a R&D project about secure smart grids in Germany that is focusing on FIWARE based smart energy solutions while facing Redispatch 2.0 and business modelling challenges. References on how a local utility works together with research institutes and energy ICT companies to realise a building block called “Energiewende” - the transformation of the energy systems towards renewables. The efficient use of data in building energy systems to achieve scalable solutions. Main highlights and strategies of European projects: French Data Network and Enershare. Showcases on how FIWARE building blocks enable the data sharing of energy communities: first insight to the background of energy communities and a proof-of-concept for using the FIWARE context broker as the coordinator of an energy community.

A key initiative of Europe is to accelerate the deployment of Data Spaces in different domains. Manufacturing Data Spaces are among the top 9 priorities set by the EC.
Data sharing among manufacturing companies and with (service) providers will be increasing in the near future, demonstrating how sharing industrial data improves company operations. Both the discrete manufacturing and process industry are impacted by such a transformation.
Consequently, the priority for manufacturing stakeholders will be to develop collaborative services based on a trusted and common framework for sharing and exchanging data and models multilaterally to overcome the interoperability challenge and implement next generation autonomous cross-enterprise industrial operations.
Currently approaches to Digital Manufacturing Platforms (DMP) and Industrial Data Platforms (IDP) do lack the ability to consistently share data across organisations at scale. In fact, it is already acknowledged that peer-to-peer data sharing, especially when involving SMEs, will not scale to unveil high-quality data sharing for manufacturing value set above.
The FIWARE Smart Industry Mission Support Committee (SIMSC) is playing a major role in this twin and green transition, facilitating the definition and adoption of common protocol and data models, as well as the spreading of enabling technologies such as Digital Twins and Artificial Intelligence. The overall food system nearly reached the next strategic inflection point. IoT technology, data sharing and consumers’ demand for sustainable production methods are pushing limits. More than ever, agricultural production needs to deploy knowledge intensive farming practices and increase data sharing. Existing data exchange platforms need to become open data exchange ecosystems managing data owners’ consent and facilitate dynamic collaboration of stakeholders. This shall increase productivity and reduce food loss and waste of the circular food system from Farm2Fork.
FIWARE open-source software and agri-food data models are a cornerstone to facilitate this development. New sources of data can be made accessible, while decreasing effort for aggregating, processing, providing, and accessing data. As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).
