Driver Sense AI
To encourage efficient and safe driving, drivers are screened and
evaluated on driving habits. Advanced sensor based technologies
to detect and monitor behaviour and fatigue levels of
drivers are emerging which makes the cars more intelligent for
avoiding accidents on roads. Systems are being developed for
real time monitoring of vehicles which controls the speed of the
vehicle and fatigue level of the driver to prevent accidents . The
primary components of such a system, will be microcontrollers
along with some sensors like eye blink, gas, impact sensors,
alcohol detecting sensor and fuel sensors. GPS and Google Maps
APIs are used to track the location of the vehicle which can be
sent to a predefined number in the system.
Sensing Fatigue
The system uses automotive-grade image sensors that captures
infrared images of the driver’s eyes, using patented pupil
identification technology and a high speed digital signal
processor to analyze & identify if the driver is either drowsy or
distracted.
The contactless setup and a sophisticated algorithm gives the
device the ability to understand the state of drivers even in
tricky conditions like in presence of strong lighting during noon
hours, drivers wearing sunglasses etc.
Using driver-facing camera, the system detects the
different nuanced cognition levels of the driver using
machinelearning and neural networks.
We use a combinationof different parameters like
● Lane Departure
● Driver’s Eyes/Mouth Tracking (eye-blink rate,
yawning etc)
● Steering Monitoring
This is to determine the ‘wakefulness’ of the driver

On-Board Diagnostics for Predictive maintenance
The On-Board Diagnostics port is commonly used in automobile service and maintenance for self-diagnosis and reporting of
any issues that may occur, or have occurred within the system Using this, information such as emissions, mileage, faults,
vehicle and engine speed, engine temperature, fluid levels, gear shifts, battery status, etc. can be monitored. This is
connected to the Check Engine light or MIL-Malfunction Indicator Light, which illuminates when the system detects a
problem. Till now it was largely used for post-facto analysis; i.e. only when some problem arises. However, by pairing
smartphones with vehicles, this information can be readily made available to the vehicle owners and service stations , giving
them a better picture of the car performance. Monitoring these parameters actively and with some level of on-device
analytics, drivers can get proactive service alerts on their smartphones and potential faults can be identified for early
diagnosis and care.
Faststream Technologies Predictive maintenance (PdM) techniques are designed to help determine the condition of
operating equipment of the car in order to predict when maintenance should be performed. This approach deploys the
principles of statistical process control to predict at what point in the future will the maintenance activities be appropriate.
Some predictive techniques are performed while equipment is in service, thereby minimizing disruption of normal system
operations. Adoption leads to predictive maintenance cost savings.
This maintenance system puts a degree of control and quality management right in your hands. With Infinite Uptime’s IDE
(Industrial Data Enabler), calculating your car’s health is much easier. The IDE measures tri-axial high-frequency mechanical
vibrations, temperature, and acoustics. It is a compactly designed, portable handheld device that accounts for productivity
optimizationand automated predictivemaintenance in the industry.

LiDAR
Laser detection and ranging (LADAR), time of flight (ToF), laser scanners or laser radar – is a sensing method that detects objects
and maps their distances. The technology works by illuminating a target with an optical pulse and measuring the characteristics
of the reflected return signal. The width of the optical-pulsecan range from a few nanoseconds to several microseconds.
LiDAR uses a pulsed laser to detect distance, velocity and angle with high precision. LiDAR can classify objects, detect lane
markings, and may also be used to accurately position an autonomous vehicle relative to a high definition map. LiDAR is a critical
sensor for enabling autonomous vehicles.
Faststream Technologies is developing and commercializing the next generation of LiDAR systems for automotive application
using Velodyne's scalable auto-grade LiDAR sensor, core 3D software technology and proprietary LiDAR ASIC engine. Both
companies will contribute key components, technologies, know-how and other intellectual property needed to optimize the
next generation of affordable, high performance LiDARs for the automotive market.
Application of LiDAR with Faststream Technologies
Detection and imaging in autonomouscars
Manufacturers are outfitting modern cars with a wide array of advanced control and sensing functions. Collision warning and
avoidance systems, blind-spot monitors, lane-keeping assistance, lane departure warning, and adaptive cruise control are
examples of established features that assist drivers and automate certain driving tasks, making driving a safer and easier
experience. Faststream Technologies LIDAR and radar share a broad array of common and complementary features that can
map surroundings as well as measure object velocity.
Range.
Our LIDAR systems can detect objects at distances ranging from a few meters to more than 200m. LIDAR has difficulty detecting
objects at close distances. Its range depends on the type of system,
• Short range radar
• Medium range radar
• Long range radar.
Spatial resolution.
Because of its ability to collimate laser light and its short 905m-1,550m wavelength, infrared (IR) light spatial resolution on the
order of 0.1° is possible with LIDAR. This allows for extremely high-resolution 3D characterization of objects in a scene without
significant backend processing. On the other hand, radar’s wavelength (4mm for 77GHz) struggles to resolve small features,
especiallyas distances increase.
Field of view (FOV).
Solid-state LIDAR and radar both have excellent horizontal FOV (azimuth), while mechanical LIDAR systems, with their 360-
degree rotation, possess the widest FOV of all advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) technologies. Our LIDAR has better
vertical FOV (elevation) than radar. LIDAR also has an edge over radar in angular resolution (for both azimuth and elevation),
which is one key feature necessary for better object classification.
Other factors.
LIDAR and cameras are both susceptible to ambient light conditions. At night, however, LIDAR systems can have very high
performance.Radar and modulated LIDAR techniques are robust against interference from other sensors.
