Letter of recommendation for Ms. Sabá Loftus
To Whom It May Concern
I have no hesitation in recommending Ms. Saba Loftus based on her exceptional performance during her
employment by the United Nations Non-Governmental Liaison Service (UN-NGLS). I worked with Ms. Loftus since
April 2014, when she joined the New York office. She was hired as an Associate Programme Officer and had a
number of responsibilities including social media.
Since April, Ms. Loftus succeeded in considerably expanding social media outreach through Twitter (which has grown
by over 166%) and Facebook (610%). She also recruited a pro-bono team to design a new logo, design promotional
materials and rebrand our online presence.
Ms. Loftus has also delivered extremely well in other areas, including promoting multi-stakeholder dialogue on issues
of relevance to the UN’s development agenda. For example, she was responsible for fundraising and coordinating a
side event during the High-Level Week of the UN General Assembly in September 2014 with EATx at UN
Headquarters that explored causal links between the world’s food systems, sustainable development and global
health. Entitled “Feeding the 9 billion: leveraging healthy sustainable diets for climate change mitigation,
environmental protection and public health benefits,” the event gathered global leaders from governments,
business, science, and civil society. Ms. Loftus was responsible for all practical logistical organisational aspects of the
events run by our New York office during her time with us.
She has also been closely involved in post-Rio+20/post-2015 processes, notably the work of the Open Working Group
on Sustainable Development Goals. She brought her strong experience in engaging with youth constituents to UN-
NGLS where she was able to broaden the Service’s outreach in a number of areas, including in disaster risk reduction
and climate change. Ms. Loftus has proven to have strong networking skills and has shown a very solid sense of
initiative. She is responsible for managing the team of UN-NGLS interns, assigning a range of tasks to them and
ensured that these tasks are carried out in a timely manner. She handles this task with confidence and ease.
I believe her experience will allow her to successfully engage in implementation efforts of the development agenda
currently under negotiation or capacity building relating to civil society engagement with the UN. I believe she would
be able to manage very diverse teams and promote innovative thinking and problem-solving.
I remain at your disposal should you have any further questions.
Yours sincerely,
Beth Peoc’h
