This document provides an abstract and introduction on speech compression techniques. The abstract discusses how compression can reduce the storage space needed for multimedia files by converting high data input streams into smaller sizes. Different transforms like DWT, FFT and DCT are used for compression. The introduction defines speech and the goal of speech compression to represent signals with fewer bits while maintaining acceptable quality. The literature review section then summarizes 7 research papers on speech compression, noting their findings, research gaps, and parameters considered.
