1) In the winter of 1871-72, D.L. Moody had a profound spiritual experience in New York where God revealed himself to Moody and filled him with his love and spirit. 2) After this experience, Moody's preaching was not different but hundreds were converted through his sermons, and he would not want to go back to who he was before. 3) Moody believed the church had made a mistake in thinking Pentecost was a one-time miracle and not something to be repeated, and that believers needed fresh baptisms of the Holy Spirit to remain full and powerful for service.
