The document discusses the resurrection of Jesus based on Luke 24:1-12. It describes how after Jesus was crucified, his disciples were dismayed and in hiding. However, on Easter Sunday, everything changed when the women discovered Jesus' tomb was empty. They told the disciples the good news that Jesus had risen from the dead, but the disciples did not initially believe the message. The resurrection of Jesus is the central fact of Christianity and gives believers hope now and for eternity.

Discover what Christology is and its relevance. Learn to properly distinguish between the Jesus of Faith and the Jesus of history. Become cautious of the pitfalls of rationalism as seen in biblical skepticism and religious fundamentalism. In this class we critique the “Quests for the Historical Jesus.” Learn about the “Old Quest” and why it failed, and also explore “the New Quest” and “the Third Quest.” See the Theological History of Jesus and learn that the Gospels are not biographies but rather inspired witnesses to the “events and teachings of Jesus insofar as they have meaning for the Church.” Most importantly, learn the right orientation for confronting the mystery of Jesus Christ.

In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.

Renewed in Grace
1. SO WHAT, IF JESUS IS ALIVE?
Luke 24:1-12
A Message of Resurrection
Rev. Rey C. Lucion
2. Here, Humanity had done its worst.
Christ was put to death.
The disciples left the cross dismayed and
disillusioned
The religious leaders rested in victory
And the Christ lay dead and buried in a
dark garden tomb.
Everything had fallen apart.
SO WHAT, IF JESUS IS ALIVE?
Luke 24:1-12
3. But very early on Sunday
morning,
Everyhting changed.
Hope had arisen.
JESUS
IS RISEN FROM THE DEAD!
4. The men were in hiding, but the women
were willing to stand up for the Lord.
The men were sleeping, but the women
were willing to care for the Lord’s body.
They stayed at the cross when the
disciples had fled.
Though He was dead, their love for
Him refused to dim. Their faith in Him
had not failed.
5. When disciples heard the message that
the Lord had risen, they didn’t believe it.
This is what happens when the
message gets lost in translation.
“The disciples incorrectly thought Christ was going to
overthrow the Roman government and establish an earthly
kingdom. Therefore, the dreams of the disciples were
destroyed when they saw Jesus crucified on a Roman
cross. The One called King of kings was taken and crowned
with thorns. They saw spikes driven through His hands and
feet. They hoped for a last-minute miracle. But none came.
Their Lord was dead. The disciples never anticipated the
Crucifixion. They misunderstood the message–it was lost in
translation.’’
6. LESSONS FROM EASTER SUNDAY:
First, Easter reminds us that God loves
ordinary and flawed people.
Second, Easter stands as living proof that
God blesses those who seek Him with their
whole heart.
Third, Easter reveals the promise that God
will more than meet us halfway.
Finally, Easter gives us hope for now and
eternity.
7. The resurrection of Jesus from the dead
is the central fact of Christian history.
On it, the church is built;
without it, there would be no Christian
church today.
It is the key to the Christian faith.
It is vitally important for many reasons
(Matt. 28:6):
8. 1. Jesus kept his promise to rise from
the dead.
2. Jesus’ bodily resurrection shows and
ensures us that the ruler of God’s
eternal kingdom is the living Christ.
3. Christ’s resurrection gives us the
assurance that we also will be
resurrected.
4. The resurrection is the basis for the
church’s witness to the world.
9. The angel who announced the good news
of the resurrection to the women gave
them four messages (Matt. 28:5-7):
1. Do not be afraid.
2. He is not here.
3. Come and see.
4. Go quickly and tell.
10. The truth and validity of Christianity rest
heavily on the resurrection.
The Pharisees failed to understand
that no rock, seal, guard, or army
could prevent the Son of God from
rising again (Matt. 27:66).
Hallelujah,
JESUS IS ALIVE!
